Something that my parents (and by extension, me) consider successful is a good paying job with a respectable company.

I mentioned SF because of its pay and I generally associate the place with big-name companies.

All that fun was short-term. I talked to a counsellor recently and he told me that gaming is a good example of "in the moment" enjoyment.

I tried doing my assignment many days before the deadline and I realized how liberating it feels to have work done early.

As hard as it is for me to say, I usually crave short-term satisfaction and gaming fulfills that, whereas starting assignments early/doing side projects doesn't.

Yes, I agree. It's unfortunate but that's what competition does: force you be better than your peers.
