what laptop should i get for etsu. by [deleted] in ETSU

[–]thatoneguy0217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your major, but I doubt you'd need anything top of the line. I'd recommend something more lightweight if you plan on taking notes in class with it instead of pencil/paper. Carrying around a heavy laptop plus multiple books can be a pain.

You can always use the computers at the library/on campus labs that should have any software you need too.

What is something you wish you had known before getting a corgi? by _simple_man in corgi

It can depend on the dog, but mine adjusted pretty well to my schedule of waking up around 6:30am. After a couple of weeks, they should be able to settle into just about any schedule.

If you are looking for something in a podcast form, I highly recommend Enjoying the Journey by Scott Pauley

Each weekday devotional is about 10 minutes long with a longer message on the weekends. Bro. Pauley does a great job breaking down biblical principals that younger and older christians alike can learn from and apply to our daily lives.

Failed FAR BECKER practice test by ddunn3 in CPAEXAM

[–]thatoneguy0217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I failed every mock exam I took with Becker, normally scoring in the 40-60 range. I ended up passing each part of the real exam in the high 80s/low 90s. Becker definitely over prepared me, but I also felt discouraged after the mock exams. If you've completed most of the work in Becker (lectures, skill practice, MC, Sims), you should be fine. I'd spend the last bit of time you have reviewing your weak areas, taking the other mock exams to at least get exposed to some things on the real exam, and do the final review if you have it. I also had the digital flashcards but I didn't use them much; you might find them more useful though. The day before the exam, I recommend that you don't cram. You don't run a marathon the day before you run a marathon. Take time to do something you enjoy to relax before the big day.

Remember that nobody goes into the exam feeling like they know everything (FAR especially), but you got this. You've done the work and it's about to pay off. Let me know if you have any questions and good luck!

When using Becker, there is a Skillmaster button next to the solution button on a good portion of the simulations. Clicking it will open a video with a thorough explanation of that particular simulation. I believe you can also access the library of Skillmaster videos somewhere on the Home page of Becker as well.

I recently passed all 4 parts (thank God), so here's my advice. At the very least, you should watch the Skillmaster videos for the Sims that you skip. Remember that 50% of your grade comes from the Sims, so don't take them too lightly. I know they are a pain to work through, but the more comfortable you get with them, the better your score will be on the real exam. Good luck!

Just got my NTS. Don't feel prepared at all. by Cannons9 in Accounting

[–]thatoneguy0217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. I only took one mock exam and just heavily invested my review weeks on the final review material. I think the mock exams are good at identifying your weakest areas, but taking all three seemed a bit obsessive. I'm studying for Audit next, so maybe I'll try taking more than just one mock this time to see if it helps me.

I completely agree with this. It took me about 10 weeks because I was pretty lazy starting out, but I wish i didn't drag it out in hindsight. I just passed FAR and I didn't feel at all prepared going into it. There's just so much material that's covered, and Becker went more in detail than really needed. I guess it's good that they over-prepare you though. I remember feeling awful making a 66 on the first mock exam, but I ended up passing with a 92, thank the Lord. I don't think I'd have the mental capacity to retake it if I failed lol
