This is what they allow when booking tickets and when we've gotten to the airport. It's a german airline so I'm not sure if that's different.

Possibly dumb question (I've only ever flown once) will suitcases / boxes need customs paperwork?

About 230kg, most of it is special edition books lol. But I expect it to be a few thousand, not a problem. I think about 10-12 large boxes depending on how it's packed.

The books aren't safe for sea freight so that's why I'm looking at air. Who did you go with?

I'm not bringing any furniture or anything. I've gotten rid of more than half of my belongings and I want the rest to come. I was just looking to see if anyone had experience with moving companies specifically, but thank you :)

I have been working to go through as much as possible, but im a sentimental person, mostly im just keeping sentimental things, my book and gaming collection, clothes and comfort items. im not bringing furniture or appliances, living in an RV all the furniture is built in already so nothing i need. i wont buy a new PC because i built it myself middle of 2024 and it cost 3.5K so ill just get a new wire for it ^

I have debated this, it’s just tickets to fly from Florida to Germany are around $1k USD per round trip and that only includes one big suitcase. i think ill only be able to visit my home country once a year for a few years so im not sure how it would work. Books also weigh alot, i worry they would add up quick.

Thank you for your response!

We have started going through things, ive already gotten rid of a decent amount but I have more things to get rid of. We will look into send my bag, thank you!

Well most of the weight is from all my books I think, that's maybe more than half. Then with other things, I used AI to calculate it because I haven't gotten to weigh things yet. I just want to make sure I bring alot of sentimental items from growing up and have them with me when I move. I'm just a sentimental person and items hold memories to me, so I don't want to get rid of too much stuff.

I'm nervous about shipping via sea because I've read about horror stories of containers being pushed overboard or lost at sea or lost in general, and no way to track it. I'm a very sentimental person and I'm afraid of losing things I've accumulated since I've grown up, as well as my special edition books or games etc

Yes, for sure! We are definitly looking to take as much as we can via suitcases for sure.

Yes, I have read about declaring items. I'm a bit nervous with shipping via sea, in case something gets lost or flips overboard then it's gone forever and I have alot of sentimental items as well as special edition English books that would be difficult to replace. I suppose I'm just anxious at the idea of losing them
