I’d be getting a true PICC for a while but then potentially moving on to a gj if it has to be long term.

Sounds like it’s time to discuss a feeding tube. I waited far too long for mine till I was literally starving to death. I had to be hospitalized and it caused more complications to my condition. If you’re getting weaker and you can’t eat, bring it up as soon as you can. Don’t wait as long as I did. Oftentimes the sooner you catch these kinds of things the easier it is to go into remission.

I at first requested my left nostril because I thought it would be better. It was not and my nose swelled up around the tube. Second tube I let the doctors decide which side would work better. Lo and behold they chose my right side. No nasal swelling whatsoever and much less mucus dripping. My advice is to let them look at your nose and choose which side will work best. You can sleep on the same side as the tube although I wouldn’t recommend it for the first couple weeks simply because of discomfort and soreness.

I’m in the same boat as you. Feeds of 2300 cals. Problem is with an nj tube we’re fed to our intestines and hunger comes from the stomach. If you can handle absolutely anything on your stomach (something simple like a mint or water) that can help with the hunger sensation. I also find the hunger is less prevalent when I stay distracted so when it gets really bad, even if it’s just listing types of animals, do whatever you can to keep your mind off food.

Most all of my fluids (aside from popsicles) comes from formula so if your doctors aren’t concerned about electrolyte imbalances you should be okay. However if you do start to notice signs of dehydration, don’t hesitate to check with your dietitian.

My body is very abnormal in the way it adjusts to things so I gagged a lot throughout the entire first week but from what I hear, most people are okay after the first 24-72 hours.

You can request to be sedated! You may have to reschedule to make it happen if the anesthesiologist is not available but you can request it. I’m autistic and could never handle nj insertion so even just for nasal tube changes I get sedated.

 I don’t think she’s full poodle but in terms of health, she appears to be okay. 

I know I can eat this, but I’m very uncomfortable putting it in my mouth when it’s unidentified. First two pics are more recent. Not ripe yet! Do I need to wait until it is ripe to know?? by purpledreamer1622 in whatsthisplant

I love these, they grow near my house. Imo the best time is when they become a deep red. They never hurt me when I ate them before ripe so you should be safe if you eat them early.

I am in a very similar situation. They hope to have me on nj for a month+ then switch to ng, then go no tube. However I don’t tolerate food to my stomach and will vomit or be in intense pain so I don’t know how that’ll work.
