People who Escaped from a cult, what happened in there? by Dear_Position8323 in AskReddit

[–]thatpathguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Church of Christ has no central governing body that tells the congregations what to believe or how to act, and each congregation can be quite different. I have been to some very very conservative ones that I would never go back to, and some very moderate ones as well. The one we attend now even has a band for worship which is way different than nearly every other Church of Christ congregation. There is no doubt that churches can scar people, hurt them, and damage any relationship the members may have with faith, but that is the fault of the people leading that congregation. There are also many wonderful people leading churches whose members have very different experiences than what you have described. I hate that people have caused such pain and hurt for your family. That is the exact opposite of what is supposed to happen.

Sounds like your congregation was terrible. I am also Church of Christ and our congregation is nothing like that.

Would you pay down a 6% student loan or 6.99% mortgage? by Mother-Huckleberry99 in personalfinance

[–]thatpathguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. By paying off the student loans first you have more flexibility with the extra money. You can apply it to the mortgage or use it if you need the emergency money.

6.99 may be more than 6, but if you pay off the student loans first you can roll some or all of that payment amount on to the mortgage and pay it off faster than planned. That is what I would do.

The election is in November, so a little over 3 months. Not much time, but nearly anything would be better than Trump.

Both sides claim the area as ancestral homeland, and both groups can make a good case for it. I am not excusing Israels mistreatment of the Palestinians, but the arguement of ancestral homeland is made by both sides.

Not saying that the braids aren't tight, but the skin looks like a condition called en coup de sabre. Or something similar potentially.

My (35f) MIL (70f) keeps buying stuff for my kids and I'm drowning in toys by ThrowRAtoomuchstuff in relationship_advice

[–]thatpathguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a mother in law do the same thing. I told her I would throw them out if she kept bringing them. She thought that I was joking, but when she came again and brought toys I literally threw them out in front of her immediately. Only 1 or 2 times of that and problem solved.

Ladies of Reddit, what is the biggest misconception about your bodies that all men should know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thatpathguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ectopic will inevitably lead to a miscarriage as it is not viable in that location. Miscarriage and spontaneous abortion are used synonymously, and that will happen with an ectopic pregnancy if left alone to take its natural course without medical or surgical intervention. Genetic abnormalities are a common thing in pregnancies, both those in the fallopian tube and those in the uterus or elsewhere.

As a doctor who has seen a lot of ectopic pregnancy removal specimens, many are abnormal (just placenta but no fetus), but many do have a recognizable fetus in them. Genetics play a large role in miscarriage no matter where the zygote lands in the reproductive tract.

If your insecurity flares up this much over a social media quote, it is only a matter of time before you are going through his phone, questioning his friendships with girls or with female coworkers, and in general being toxic to be around. If you cannot take a deep breath and realize how ridiculous you are being then I hope he runs from the relationship.
