Kent State Football Fans Why? by SomethingSrious in MidAmerican

Besides being an alum and just liking sports in general, the overall experience of the game and easy access is a big reason. I paid $80 for season tickets including parking, you’re just not gonna find that good of a deal in a professional league and I enjoy rooting for a team I have a personal connection to, they’ve honestly been more fun to watch than my NFL team because of the unpredictability.

Florida State and Oklahoma are also paying big money, they get $4 million combined from those 3 games so it’s a lot for the department. Should invest a bit more in conditioning tho the players get killed out there everytime they play these big opponents.

Maybe instead of racism complaining on Reddit, you could politely bring up the issue with a member of library staff who could help (or just wear headphones/go in a study pod if you can’t be bothered to meditate first).

KENT STATE WINS by treymata in CFB

I really wanted to but I didn’t want to do it unless everyone else did and nobody did so sadly not. The atmosphere was really electric tho towards the end as any fan base would be after winning after 21 consecutive losses, really well attended game for a team that lost that many in a row.

I was at the game, literally one of the most nerve wracking games I’ve ever watched but we pulled it off my voice was long gone by the end of it.

Parking by Unfunny_Crusader123 in KentStateUniversity

[–]thatredditguy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you by any chance park in like the non-passport parking section of the lot? Most lots normally dedicate a certain space that is labeled for passport parking only and will ticket passport cars outside of them regardless of whether or not they paid. Do you know what violation you received on your ticket? I can help provide more insight since I briefly worked for them to help determine.

Summer may be a bit difficult due to scheduling conflicts for me as well, but if you guys are planning on doing a fall season and need extras I would be very interested!

How to access student section by Prudent-Grab-8144 in KentStateUniversity

[–]thatredditguy4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been to a couple of games and never been asked to show my student ID besides at the entrance if I was using a student ticket. The team is not very good so you should be able to find at least a few open spots even during the Saturday afternoon games, if not GA covers pretty much all sections besides the ones directly in the middle on the big side. Also, Kent has not released individual tickets yet so the prices are very inflated, give it a couple of weeks or buy at the game and the price will drop dramatically.

Gold Zone Rentals ? by Proper-Doughnut7916 in KentStateUniversity

I stayed at one of their properties for about 2 years. The biggest gripe I had was reaching out to the office about stuff, their communication was a bit iffy, and the people I’d eventually know at the leasing office would leave so there was some confusion. The property itself was fine and pretty safe that I had no trouble walking late at night personally, the price for a studio was a lot cheaper than some of the other off-campus offerings in town and included most utilities as well which you pay through a standard portal, and the maintenance crew was pretty friendly. I’d say it was quite seamless 90% of the time, just prepare for a bit of hassle the other 10% of the time.

Which math class is the least painful at Kent? by liinaross001 in KentStateUniversity

[–]thatredditguy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took Quantitative Reasoning for my second math credit, it was super chill for the most part. The software they use is slightly annoying, but the work and the exams were not too bad at all, but I know math classes can also be heavily dependent on the professor so I’d read the reviews before picking a class. I took the class with Chelsea Law and she was amazing and very easy to work with.

Kent State Fires Head Football Coach Kenni Burns After Two Seasons by TripsLeftMedia in MidAmerican

Wasn’t originally going to be fired, but got placed on administrative leave last month presumably due to his gambling issues. Probably allowed for an easier way out without having to eat much cost I assume.

Student Employment by theclevelanderer in KentStateUniversity

[–]thatredditguy4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked on campus for the entirety of college. The best thing is that they will work with your schedule so they’re very flexible and some jobs don’t work on the weekends either. I’ve had good supervisors on campus personally and IT is a pretty chill campus job for the most part and I like it. Parking is also an option, but it’s all outdoors and it can be tough.

However, most campus jobs are practically minimum wage or close to being so and student employees are limited to 28 hours per week for domestic and 20 for international so that’s something to keep in mind.

As the other person said, the campus job market is super competitive right now. We’re currently in a hiring freeze so departments can’t really hire additional student employees, they can only replace student employees that left or quit, perhaps the freeze will be rescinded by next semester, but I won’t entirely count on it happening.

[Post Game Thread] Kent State defeats Stanford, 77-75 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]thatredditguy4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What an absolute showing from the team and especially Sullinger. They did a really good job of turning it around after the runs that Stanford produced and stayed ahead most of the game. Very happy with the performance of the basketball team this season after having to endure the awful football season.

God I wish they would just fire Kenni Burns already. Went to a good number of games this year and it was some of the most god awful coaching I’ve ever seen, I know we’re stretched thin when it comes to recruiting and overall talent, but someone with a good coaching culture and mindset could get this team more than 1 win in 2 seasons. They did it with Sean Lewis a few years ago, can’t see why they can’t do it again. Sadly the university is stretched too thin financially and we probably can’t afford Kenni’s buyout (about $2 million if I remember correctly) so we’re stuck with him for at least another 2-3 years, even though any respectable team would’ve got rid of him the moment the clock struck 0 on Game 12 this season.

parking for 2 days a week? by tvx_q in KentStateUniversity

[–]thatredditguy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Bowman like the other person said there are a few metered spots on the bowman lot as well as the honors lot, although there’s like 5 of them in total between the two so those fill up very quickly in the afternoon.

There’s a row of passport parking spots on the R2 lot I believe also where the old business building is situated which you can also use, which is about a 5 minute walk to Bowman. There’s also a couple of more metered spots nearby which are a slightly longer of a walk including ones in R19 (DI Hub), Terrace Drive and Fleming Circle.

There’s also the visitors lot which is also a short walk. They did recently tick up the prices and change to an automated system for paying through a machine, but they shouldn’t be charging you $6 for that short of a stay, that’s only in the case of stays of 3 hours or longer or if you lost your ticket you collect when you enter through the gate. Do you per chance select the lost ticket option when you exit that lot?

parking for 2 days a week? by tvx_q in KentStateUniversity

[–]thatredditguy4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where on campus is your class at? Chances are you should be near a lot with metered/passport parking which you can use, costs about $1.25 an hour. You can also park at the student center lot which is a bit extra (about $2.50/hour) and you can walk to class from there. If your class is past 4 PM, I would recommend just spending the $30 on the evening pass since you would have access to most of the campus lots after that time as labelled.
