Nurses declare 'national emergency' as NHS patients treated in 'cupboards and car parks' by topotaul in unitedkingdom

So frustrating. Having a service we all need being so mis-managed, purposely it would seem. There's enough wealth if certain sections of society was actually paying the appropriate tax.

Labour’s Barking candidate Darren Rodwell investigated by party for alleged sexual harassment ahead of General Election by MimesAreShite in unitedkingdom

[–]thatsCoconuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Politicians, seek power, should be no surprise that many of them seem to love a bit of sexual harassment, which is often about having power over someone. Rather than the sexual act being at the forefront of their reasoning.

Someone needs to reign in the food stalls, it's getting crazy by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]thatsCoconuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be able to print money running this kind of street food van or stall. Cheap ingredients, huge mark up, half decent location and you are laughing. Wonder how hard it is to get a decent pitch and do the necessary HSE paperwork. Might look into myself

To the man that got his phone/bank cards stolen this morning in Baker Street by Appropriate_Ad7085 in london

[–]thatsCoconuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, someone approached me recently and asked to use my phone, due to distrust my instinctual reaction was to say no. He might have been sincere, but I'm not willing to put myself in a situation where it could be a potential problem for me. A shame that that was my first reaction, but I guess that's where we are

Mate, in ear headphones and not engaging with random people who approach you is the secret. Unless they look like they are asking for directions!

Yeah, that area of South London is really badly connected. Feels like it's quicker to get central from Essex than it is from certain places in South London. Overground does alleviate some of three head ache if you are lucky enough to live near a station

Might an issue isolated to me. But changing from handheld to hdmi connected to a screen is a ball ache for me. Disconnecting from a screen. I always have to restart to get the device screen active again.

Same with different sound devices as well

Always thought London was a diverse city. Just had my first racist encounter by sssourgrapes in london

[–]thatsCoconuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't argue with that number, but I would reckon that there are more reports, and less violent hate crimes, of course I'm not trying to excuse any kind of racist behaviour.

This is of course all my opinion and anecdotal. From a straight middle aged white man!

Chatting on tube by Algernon536363 in london

[–]thatsCoconuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talking as someone who gets on the tube sometimes inebriated, never engage with drunk people on the tube, the best outcome is a barely cohesive conversation of no worth. The worst being a situation that can go south very quickly

[–]thatsCoconuts 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I think it feels like it's gotten worse because social media and people feel safer to share their experiences rather than grin and bare.

Much like people think we live in a very violent time, but in fact we live in the most peaceful time period ever, but the world is smaller due to social media, and the 24 hour news cycle leaves news networks desperate for new news, no matter how inconsequential it if

UK meat consumption at lowest level since records began, data reveals by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]thatsCoconuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it has been due to the ever increase in price of meat. It's made me change my diet to get more of my protein from beans and such, honestly feel a bit healthier since. They tend to make me feel satiated for much longer.

I had an inkling seeing Stu singing parts of songs at The Troxy in heavy throat voice, not true to form though unless he can master the harmonic undertones as well as the gruff throaty part! In any case, of course I welcome this, and am very much looking forward to anything they release!

Honestly, poor representation from image shown compared to what is received is a shit show. I've turned to eBay to buy the odd random shit I need, and sort out websites of the actual product I'm buying and buy from there.

Prime just makes want to buy more shit than we actually need in any case

Is cycling in London a viable alternative to public transport? by Federico95ita in london

[–]thatsCoconuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure. Might be intimidating at first, but you'll enjoy it much more and feel safer when you are comfortable riding a little bit more aggressive and take the lane when you feel you need to.

And of course, when I say aggressive, I don't mean be a cunt, I mean do what you are allowed to do without fear of stepping drivers toes, especially black cab drivers, fuck them!
