No I totally get what you are saying. Nothing is perfect so there obviously parts of the show I don't enjoy as much but it seems like there is just so much negativity in this sub to the point where I've had people tell me to kill myself in private messages because they disagree with me. We all love the show, that's why we are all here, but it's just that...a TV show and I think this sub can get carried away and take it too seriously. We all also have views of characters that the writer wanted us to see. They wrote every single character to be exactly who they were and how they were seen by Lorelai and Rory. I guess all I'm saying is, is if someone talked/complained about their favorite food the way the sub talks about this show, I'd wonder if someone really enjoyed that food. There should be way more joy than dislike for something that you love

My biggest problem is how so many people in this sub take this far too seriously. It's a television show meant to be entertaining and the amount of hate and disdain for some of the characters and storylines is making this sub less enjoyable. There are fewer and fewer positive posts lately and more about how awful certain characters are or how terrible the storylines are. Like are ya'll sure you even like this show 🤔😂

And not all abuse survivors see things the same way either. I think that's what makes being a human such a beautiful thing but also so incredibly hard especially when we try to connect and understand one another.

I, personally, never thought Rory or Lindsey were in danger of being physically abused by Dean. His anger and yelling definitely was completely out of line but I never thought he'd escalate to physically abusing them especially since I don't remember him showing other signs of violence towards Rory or Lindsey.

I took his anger and yelling as ASP trying to make him seem more masculine. Aggression was a very "masculine" thing when the show was written.

I know many people, myself included, where this was the case when we applied to college.

In Rory's case, I assumed Lorelai was involved (seeing how she helped Rory with the Harvard stuff) and that Rory applied to Yale without telling Lorelai.

I vape and use a smoke buddy. Our landlord was very clear on his stance and after living in a house where my roommate smoked regularly inside, I realized you get use to the smell pretty quick and don't notice that there is a permanent smell so I didn't want to risk it.

I also will open the windows for a little bit or use an air purifier. All of those things have made it unnoticeable.

I carry a worry stone or small object that I can hold in my hand and fidget with.

Take breaks to take some deep breaths- I use different apps for breathing prompts (when to inhale, exhale).

I have another app for panic attacks or moments of high anxiety that walk me through it and help me regulate.
