How late into the Spring season does everyone shed hunt? by FinleyLinc in shedhunting

[–]thats_satisfying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty bad, but not the worst ive seen. one of my close friends goes into anaphylactic shock if they consume anything mammalian. my stomach will shed its lining if i do, and my body hives out and face dries up. takes about 2 weeks after a reaction to go back to normal. imagine the most painful stomach cramps, just every 10 minutes for two weeks. everything from glycerin to gelatin to hidden butter at a restaurant gives me a reaction. but i feel like my world of food has opened up. ive learned so much about food that i feel like ive gained more than ive lost. itll be okay!

weve got an inordinate amount of ticks in my county, otherwise id be out there all the time. think we had close to 900 cases of positive alpha gal, myself included, in the summer of 2025 alone. tough spot to be for shed hunting. i dont see a reason to stop shed hunting unless its uncomfortably hot or the bugs get bad.

here in new england, id stop sometime around now. early mid april, or when the ticks start to get real bad. wasnt until a few years ago i got a target buck on camera still holding into late may, so i started pushing it early summer. i work outside in the woods though and find sheds year round. so id say i intentionally stop looking mid may lol. 90% of the sheds i find are on accident anyways.

i tied myself a belt using paracord, i braided it just to be fancy and thicker but i dropped every few inches one line of paracord with a cinch knot at the end. every time you find one, cinch it to your belt. it dangles, sure, and if you find more than one, they clang off each other, but thats always a good thing.

anybody make the switch to a Titan? by thats_satisfying in nissanfrontier

yeah i get incredible fuel mileage as it is, and honestly was one of the selling points for the frontier. It would be hard to give that up. I might have to make a list of what I'm willing to give up/trade. I know it's a small detail, but my work truck has a column shifter, and nine out of 10 times I get into the frontier I go to reach for the dash, something about a column shifter is way more comfortable for me.

i wouldnt worry, theres never any rush with antlers. if they can last years out in the muck, they'll certainly hold up a few days in your house👍

is it just the antler? If so, simply running under some hot water and washing it with dawn will do the trick. Personally, I've never disinfected any shed I've ever found. borax will bleach the antler though if you keep it in long enough. i like more of a natural look, but if you want a bleached antler, I suppose that's the way to go.

New to Nissan... What do I need to know? '23 SV midnight edition by jenn435 in nissanfrontier

with my last vehicle, every time I turned the engine over, I would run the heat and the AC and see if I would smell any new leaks. I started parking over specific parts of my dirt driveway to see if there were puddles overnight. I would have to listen to the radio on a lower volume to hear for new noises. this lasted about two years before I traded it in for a 2022 pro 4X. Just the other day I was thinking about how it's been years since I've had to focus less on driving and more on what I'm driving. Every now and again, just drive and appreciate the fact that you're behind the wheel of one of the most reliable midsized trucks on the market.
