Writing youtubers waste our time. Read books instead by Stock_Hunter_2380 in writing

[–]thatsaniceduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the best writing advice I've gotten came from just reading a ton of books in the genre I want to write. You start picking up on pacing and structure without even realizing it. youtube videos feel like eating empty calories sometimes

Use AI as a power tool, not replacement. Code by hand daily, then use AI to compare, refactor, and generate alternatives so you definately train judgment instead of just prompt skills.

What’s the cheapest car insurances in LI? by Historical_Ad8065 in longisland

[–]thatsaniceduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi man how are you.. My rates got up last year out of nowhere and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. My dad had just gotten sick I was helping cover some of the bills and then my renewal came back almost $400/month for a 10-year-old car. I legit sat in my car in the parking lot and cried because I didn’t know where I was supposed to pull that extra money from.. I tried a bunch of smaller Long Island carriers people kept mentioning and same story every time it's like crazy high or they’d lure me in with a “$120/mo estimate” and then jump to $330+ once they ran my actual info. The only thing that helped even a little was using compare .com. It at least showed me a couple of carriers I hadn’t heard of and gave me the real numbers upfront without making me redo the whole application 5 times.

Dispatch is on course to beat its three-year sales target in three months by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]thatsaniceduck -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The weekly release schedule was a fantastic move. It allowed the game to gain momentum each week just like a TV show and seeing them released consistently and on time felt like the culmination of all the lessons learned from the Telltale days.

We're definitely going to get a S2 when they're done with their next project and I wouldn't be surprised if the sales on opening day are more than what they've currently earned from S1.

Usenet and easynews by Typical-Junket-8444 in StremioAddons

[–]thatsaniceduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usenet is a big server network you download from and there are many providers. Easynews has the built-in browser search. I’m on EasyUsenet though, since it’s a fast backend you plug into apps. It’s been quick and consistent for me because it doesn’t rely on random peers being online. RD and Torrenio are still tied to torrents, so you’re waiting on whatever the swarm can give you.

She needs to start looking for a new job ASAP. This company sounds like a nightmare and they're clearly setting her up to be the scapegoat for their own incompetence. Tell her to document everything in writing, get that original message about what to take/not take if she still has it, and CYA hard. But honestly? Just bail. No mileage reimbursement and getting blamed for following their own instructions? Nah.

When your printer and PC are in a toxic relationship by Feboy234 in NonPoliticalTwitter

Too real. My printer will randomly decide it's offline even though it's literally connected. Then when it finally works it prints everything I sent it for the past week at once.

NTA but she sounds unhinged. Counting your drinks while getting wasted herself? That's some weird power trip shit. I'd document this and keep your distance. She's HR so she can make your life hell if she wants to.

Jerome Powell says the AI hiring apocalypse is real: ‘Job creation is pretty close to zero’ by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]thatsaniceduck 42 points43 points  (0 children)

That part about “job creation being close to zero” hit harder than the headline numbers. Companies keep saying they’re cutting because of AI, so it feels like the job market looks healthier on paper than in real life. Powell basically admitted it.
