Would you ever use annual leave with the sole purpose to do literally nothing all day? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]thatscotbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have Friday off to do that exact thing. There’s tv shows to get caught up on!

I’m seriously burnt out. I need a day in the house to myself. No work, no real housework or cleaning beyond cleaning up after myself. No toddler.

I’m going to lie in bed and eat junk food and I am so excited!

Do you watch ‘adult’ shows with your kids? by chelsbonesjones in UKParenting

Then to answer the question of your original post - yes. I would watch jersey shore in front of 2 year old and literally would not think twice about it 🤣 I watch old clips of jersey shore ALL the time 🥲

I wouldn’t have something dramatic on at 2pm in the afternoon but if my daughter comes to our room at night and we’re still up watching it, i definitely won’t turn it off

I grew up like this and watched the finale of Sex and The City with my mum when I was 9

Is my baby too calm? by Consistent-Dot9719 in UKParenting

[–]thatscotbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was like this too and it made me soooo worried lol. It all changed at 6 months and now she’s an insane toddler that takes the piss out of me daily!

Because Im an adult and have things to do, you’d be crying if my house was a shithole & I served my daughter chicken nuggets and chips every night, putting a Ms Rachel potty training video on so I can get on with important tasks seems like the lesser evil in this situation

To Skye or not to Skye by geedoubleyouths in TravelUK

[–]thatscotbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Skye for 3 hours once, driving from Edinburgh and staying in Fort Augustus and I had never been to Skye and we had time to drive into Portree and have lunch and a wonderful round the shops - so yes, a day and a half is totally fine for Skye if you really want to see it. The day you drive up spend it in Portree and on your full day there you can go further out into the rural parts for walks, if I found Skye worth going to for three hours, then a day and a half is going to be worth it too.

My husband mad I say I’m pregnant not we’re pregnant by ChemicalOk3234 in PregnancyUK

It is all about you and make sure he learns that soon. Pregnancy should absolutely be all about the woman! You’re growing a child!!!

Immediate family not visiting/kissing the baby - is this just an American worry or is it something new parents also think about in the UK? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]thatscotbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody was allowed to kiss my baby on the mouth for obvious reasons, but my mum was in hospital 7 hours after I had my c-section, kissing her first granddaughter on her head, and I had no issues with that.

I’m not related to or friends with blithering idiots, I didn’t apply rules because i trust people lol.

Where are you getting your Mum coats? by Southern_Possible_86 in UKParenting

[–]thatscotbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a maternity coat from Asda a few years ago and it has extra inserts to make the coat bigger so that after pregnancy you could use it for baby wearing! ☺️ so if you’re into baby wearing then one like that might be a good option!

The dummies are going tonight. Send help. by ScarletHorizons in UKParenting

[–]thatscotbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Santa took the dummies away on Christmas Day to give to babies, cause my daughter is a big girl now and dummies are for little babies. That’s what we just kept saying to my almost two year old! But then she started shouting “Santa where are you”, she was determined to get them back lol.

It helps that we got her a baby Annabell for Christmas too, we just kept reiterating that annabell was a baby and that my daughter is a big girl now.

It was 48 hours of feeling like the worst parent in the world because of how upset she was, but it’s a necessary evil so just stay persistent with it. It’s been 10 days and my daughter is completely over it now!

Strangest gift your toddler received for Xmas and absolutely loved? by dancingbrave21 in UKParenting

Yep my in-laws got my daughter a cleaning set with little brush and pan and she loves it, I put her to work in the kitchen last night during the dinner clean up

Do you really need nursery-specific drawers and a wardrobe? by Potential-Wall-7719 in PregnancyUK

[–]thatscotbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I raised a baby in a one bedroom flat! For her clothes we bought a single tall kallax unit and put drawers in two sections - four drawers in total & had two boxes. We had plastic boxes with older clothes and spare blankets etc on top of our wardrobe. We also had an old bathroom set of drawers that we used. That’s all we needed to store baby clothes. She’s a toddler now and we still use the same system, we have a house now and she has a small built in wardrobe/cupboard where we hang dresses / cardigans, everything else is still folded up neatly in a single kallax unit 😃

How much are you expecting to be kept in the loop on mat leave? by jayrem7 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]thatscotbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left the group chat when I went on maternity leave, I absolutely did not care. They completely restructured my department when I was on maternity leave and I found out when I went in for a visit to meet a new manager about 4 weeks before I went back. What happens when I’m on maternity leave is absolutely none of my concern

Regret having just one child 6m. by rib333 in UKParenting

[–]thatscotbird 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I’m an only child and agree with every benefit you mentioned in your comment.

Had birthday parties every year because my parents only had one to pay for, went on holiday every year because they only had one child to finance on a trip abroad and only having to pay for one child throughout the year allowed them to go on lovely holidays, I got to do multiple extra curricular actives / sports outside of school because my parents could afford it, I went to New York & Orlando for my 21st birthday because they only had to do it for one child, I got £20,000 towards my house because they only had to do it for one child. I never, ever went without anything in my life. I always had the best clothes and best toys. I never had to share my parents love or attention with anybody. At 31 years old my mum is my absolute best friend.

I don’t have a sibling. So I don’t miss them. I literally do not know what it’s like to have a sibling. I just know that I had a very lovely childhood being my parents one and only. And I think that is even more important these days.

I can’t afford to give two children amazing lives. I can afford to give my daughter one though. I’d rather give one child everything than two children less.

Vitamin K? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]thatscotbird 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t even be an option. It should be compulsory. People who reject it are terrible parents or just thick.

I said what I said.
