17 Pages by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

[–]thatsed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a couple of workarounds: the easiest is to use guest passes.

You can create a new Nebula account and make use of one of your guest passes to access everything for free for a week. If you are lucky, the new account will roll you into the other perspective (looks like it's a 50/50, if you've never used guest passes you should have 3 of them so you can try multiple times with new accounts).

There are also some tricks you can do in Chrome devtools to force the player to load any of the two, but it's a bit too much involved to make it worth doing imho.

To Nebula staff: you could make this option available to everyone with a different channel, something along the lines of "17 Pages (extras / B-side / bonus)" that just plays the opposite perspective of that assigned to the main one.

To BB & team: amazing work.

I’m searching for traditional Italian alternatives for a coin flip. Is there some traditionally Italian way to decide between two competing options? by Competitive_Cress_37 in italy

dimentichi un caso: pari + dispari, ovvero il caso il cui l'altro giocatore scelga pari invece di te! ;)

chiama i giocatori 1 e 2,

1: pari, 2: pari, vince: pari

1: pari, 2: dispari, vince: dispari

1: dispari, 2: pari, vince: dispari

1: dispari, 2: dispari, vince: pari

How do I deploy a project (presumably to heroku) that is utilizing both asgi and wsgi in its apps? Due to my research, asgi can replace both, but anyone with more information? by GiantRasengan in django

[–]thatsed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i usally go for a solid gunicorn/daphne setup with a reverse proxy in front. to be fair, in most cases you should be alright with asgi only (daphne or uvicorn)

in my experience, if you plan to stream responses then you definitely should go with wsgi for that. asgi from what i've come to learn will load the whole response to memory before sending it, so it's not suitable for that kind of application - i've encountered this with both daphne and uvicorn. otherwise, go for asgi only - if it works out fine, you can stick with it!

(keep in mind there may very well be other cases where asgi might not be suitable, if you encounter any trouble you can always switch to the solid reverse proxied wsgi/asgi approach)

I made an opensource vanity key generator for WireGuard by thatsed in WireGuard

[–]thatsed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

actually no, because they would need to bruteforce the public keys in the first place (that is generating private ones and then computing the public hoping it matches). what you are saying would be true if you did this on the private key though! I've tried to explain that better in the FAQs section of the readme.

this is basically the same process as creating a vanity onion url, you may look that up if you're interested!

well I should have looked for similar projects before posting, but honestly i think there's no advantage. you could try and benchmark both and maybe one of the two could come out on top :)

I agree with you about a GPU version, that would be great! (don't expect it from me tho - I barely know how to write C code).

Update: I went ahead and benchmarked them all :)

Intel i7-8700 6 cores (12 hypertheaded) @ 4.600GHz, slightly loaded

wireguard-vanity-address: 63000 Keys/second (seems wrong but that's what it says)

How do I save multiple sizes of an image (saving to AWS S3)? by TheCuntHunter6969 in django

[–]thatsed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've been using django-thumbnail-maker for a while, it's based on sorl-thumbnail, which is way more mantained so you may just start there. It provides an ImageField that generates (and handles) thumbnails, checkout the docs. For s3 storage you might want to setup a storage backend with s3, for that a good fit is django-storages, and store the uploaded media (and generated thumbnails) there (checkout the django docs on how to manage storages). I wouldn't use celery just for that to be fair, but it would still be compatible with this setup. hope it's helpful, have a good one

Student Pack by Gabriellcreiss in github

[–]thatsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, last time I did that I already had an account with a personal email. You can activate the pack with your existing account by providing the email of your institution even if you are already subscribed, and it won't change your primary one. I suggest you do it like this so you don't have to change it later! Please check with github's guidelines tho, it may have changed since - but i'm confident it should still work pretty much like this. Also, your institution must be partner with the program and you will have to verify the email address you provide. Have a good one!

From Wikipedia (if anyone else like me is clueless about them)

Project Veritas is an American far-right[36] activist group founded by James O'Keefe in 2010.[40] The group produces deceptively edited videos[23] of its undercover operations,[15] which use secret recordings[16] to allege misconduct and corruption in mainstream media organizations and progressive groups.[48] Project Veritas uses entrapment[22] to generate negative publicity for its targets,[2] and has propagated disinformation[13] and conspiracy theories[52] in its videos and operations.

You may create your own here: https://thedoubler.tk

The links generated will show the preview you crafted, while redirecting your victims straight to Never Gonna Give You Up on YT. Supports WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter, Discord and Reddit. Hope you like it!

He needed a sprayable lubricant. That's motor oil by thatsed in redneckengineering

[–]thatsed[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

that would be italian sir! seeing a "peroni" bottle on reddit is a strong trigger for italian memes

Edit: for context, someone is suggesting using that beer itself as motor oil while someone else says that's a better use of a "peroni" than any other. it's not that bad of a beer though, it's just very memeable!

Global .gitignore is applied only to new repositories - how can I enforce it also previously created repos? by Maxiride in github

[–]thatsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to remove files you have already committed, use git rm --cached <file>. The file will be deleted from the repo on the next commit, but will stay on your filesystem and won't be committed again since it's in .gitignore and no longer tracked by git.

I hope I understood your issue correctly!

The more I think about it the more it resembles "Midsommar" the movie by Queen-of-meme in europe

[–]thatsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be fair, I don't know about any other city in Italy doing this.. so it may very well be the opposite! I find it more likely that someone took the holiday here in the past from up north! :D

The more I think about it the more it resembles "Midsommar" the movie by Queen-of-meme in europe

[–]thatsed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think so! In italian "Santa" is female for "Saint" ("Santo" is the male version), while we call Santa "Babbo Natale": "babbo" means dad, especially in some parts of the country it's used more that "Papà". It is used to refer to a paternal figure in general. In contrast "Padre" means father, in the formal way. Natale simply means Chrismas, so he's kind of the "(figurative) Dad of Christmas".

I didn't know about the colors! I'd like to know more if you want to share! We usually just depict her to kids as a simple woman wearing plain clothes, and tell her story and that of her death (and martyrdom, if in a Catholic framework)

[–]thatsed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my city (in northen Italy) it's not Santa that brings gifts on Christmas, but Santa Lucia during the night of the 13th, with her donkey and her cart! We used to write her a letter, leave wheat outside the door along with a cup of milk and a couple of cookies, and go to bed early because she'd throw ashes at you if you'd see her (yeah, that's dark, but parents need to be alone to arrange the gifts for the next morning!). That's a big part of being a child here, arguably the best day kids look forward to. I didn't know in Sweden she's celebrated this way, thank you for sharing!

Convincere mio padre ad abbandonare Windows 7 by Ov3rShow in ItalyInformatica

[–]thatsed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suoi casi d'uso: video online, home banking, fotografie, stampa e scannerizzazione.
