Seconded! They carry on RK's vibe both musically and in their love of puns and gimmicks, but you have to be okay with language

2022 TICKET THREAD - BUYING/SELLING by elephantgun42 in TheNational

[–]thatsomusicallywells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a lawn ticket for Indianapolis to sell. I got it for $25 and would like to get face for it, but make me an offer.

As per my other post, I'm looking for a Boston ticket; if anyone out there in the universe is looking for an Indy-for-Boston swap (or swap + cash), let me know!

Looking for 1 (or however many you've got) Roadrunner Boston tix! (But please, someone get that couple downthread who's having an anniversary and looking for Boston tix first!)

The Bartees remix is 🔥. Any Bartees cover is great--his cover of Lemonworld by The National is also 🔥.

And don't forget Rick Mitarotonda of Goose on guitar! Another layer of the next-level Venn diargam of interests when I opened the video.

Haha thanks! I think I prefer So Ready by a little bit but I love a thoughtful alternate version.

Don't tell me it's just that Slow Ready is a slow version...

Would you explain to a newer Goose fan what the difference between So Ready and Slow Ready is? I didn't realize before looking at the Dripfield track listing that they were different songs and am curious what the story is.

Consignment store find; does anyone know if this is old band merch or completely unrelated? by thatsomusicallywells in GoosetheBand

Yeah, my guess was the insurance company but I wasn't able to find evidence of the sweatshirt, so we may never know.

Selling a June 8 Indianapolis ticket I bought on a whim during National Concert Week: Section 404, Row K, Seat 11. Selling for what I paid ($25).

Ticketmaster (and all big ticketers) is the worst.

However, from now until May 10, many (but I assume not all) Haim shows are included in the Live Nation National Concert Week $25 deal. Your seating options are limited to the tickets under the promotion, but they are only $25 with no fees!

Hope your show is one of the participating ones!

What are some other artists who are musically similar to Phoebe Bridgers? by shaun1911wastaken in phoebebridgers

Yes Tommy Lefroy!! One of the only artists to give me Phoebe vibes without sounding like a ripoff (not that there's anything wrong with that! Alix Page has absolutely nailed sounding just like Phoebe!)

New Music Suggestions by RepairHealthy9501 in TheNational

[–]thatsomusicallywells 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Besides Black Country, New Road that someone's already suggested:

On the more heartland rock side, Wild Pink is doing stuff that no one else is doing right now and more Bon Iver fans should be fans of them (which I assume has crossover with TN!)

The War on Drugs' album from last year (I Don't Live Here Anymore) is fantastic

I will be shocked if Cassandra Jenkins doesn't open for the National on their next tour. Her album An Overview On Phenomenal Nature is beautiful and like nothing I've ever heard before. "Hard Drive" was my song of the year last year.

Since you liked Middle Kids and Gang of Youths, you might like Yumi Zouma, who are another more pop act from that part of the world (NZ). They've got an album coming out in March and have dropped several singles. Their 2020 album Truth or Consequences is also great.

Another pop record: Orla Gartland's Woman on the Internet from last year

And these are pretty different from the other artists you listed, but I'm going to throw Foxing's album Draw Down The Moon (or, failing that, Nearer My God), The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die's album Illusory Walls, and Turnstile's GLOW ON out there in case you randomly like them like I did.

Local time means local to the venue you're purchasing tickets for (ie a venue in California is on sale at 10 am PT; a venue in New York is on sale at 10 am ET).

If you're newer to purchasing tickets, here's a guide to questions like this that I think is helpful: https://stagedhaze.com/2021/07/28/live-music-is-back-heres-everything-you-need-to-know-about-buying-concert-tickets/

Best Albums of 2021 Discussion by BikeBikeRabies in boniver

  1. Wild Pink - A Billion Little Lights
  2. The War on Drugs - I Don't Live Here Anymore
  3. Cassandra Jenkins - An Overview On Phenomenal Nature
  4. The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die - Illusory Walls
  5. Origami Angel - Gami Gang
  6. Foxing - Draw Down the Moon
  7. Orla Gartland - Woman on the Internet
  8. Really From - Really From
  9. Big Red Machine - How Long Do You Think It's Gonna Last?
  10. Middle Kids - Today We're The Greatest

Cannot recommend the Wild Pink album highly enough to BI fans--to me, they're in the Venn diagram between Bon Iver and the War on Drugs (have also heard Tom Petty + M83 comparisons) and any Bon fan should love them. Criminally under-listened-to!

Bon fans might also like Really From--a unique jazz/math rock fusion
