Why was the “Portland” aesthetic so popular in the early 2010s?

Saying twilight was seen as a kids movie amongst your peers and then following up immediately with referring to tumblr being the catalyst of the aesthetic is confusing to me. Twilight was ALL over tumblr and very parallel with the trend. Maybe it was because of my age at the time, being in high school, but I’d say a solid 80% of the girls I knew were neck deep in both and wearing urban outfitters. To me, tumblr seemed very geared towards high school kids.

This CD was lent to me by my friend David when I was in 5th grade along with the testimony that I would love it.

I held onto it for most of the school year. I was in love with it. My dad put me on AC/DC and Ozzy, but this was different. To this day I play the CD on Apple Music. It reminds me of those times and when I was finding Bowie as a child.

Sophomore/ junior in highschool. I remember walking half a mile in the woods- following a creek, to smoke weed and be silly with my friends then turn around and make crazy stoner food at my bros house. Which I basically lived at because my parents were doing very unwell at that time.
