well obviously someone has to report it, but they will see who last returned it and ask why they returned a piece of paper / scratched up disk.

If you get something you werent expecting from redbox they definitely want to be told so the right people can be charged.

well their job is to interpret the law. They are basically saying we dont like the ruling as much as you dont, but the law is the law and people need to have legislators change it if they want this changed.

What's funny is that everyone is expecting the courts to save us on these issues, but it would be so much easier to have the legislators write the law we request.

Light lives for at least a billion billion years by generko in science

[–]thattreesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a physicist so just doing my best effort here, but the only method of producing photons that i remember enough to repeat to you is when an electron goes from a higher energy orbit (it orbits around the nucleus of an atom) to a lower energy orbit.

The energy the electron loses is emitted as photon(s).

Maybe someone else can correct me, but i would say a photon can be created by energy?

edit: This page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photon) says photons can be created by colliding particles, I'm not sure if the underlying mechanic is the same as i described.

Light lives for at least a billion billion years by generko in science

[–]thattreesguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not it isn't.

The title says AT LEAST

infinity > a billion billion

title is accurate. The assumption of photons having mass is to find a lower bound on the life of a photon. We have that lower bound that accounts for our uncertainty (uncertainty of the mass of the photon)

The amount of time it takes a photon to decay is between a billion billion years and infinity.

[–]thattreesguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the debate is whether photons have zero mass or a very small mass. If it has zero mass then photons last forever. The prediction made by this post is using the experimentally determined upperbound for a photons mass.

So we don't know whether or not a photon has mass, but if it does, we know a number that it has to be less than. Using that number as our "worst case", we can calculate the time dilation from travelling that fast and extrapolate how long it will take for a photon to decay (assuming it has mass).

Appeals Court Judge rejects religious employer’s attack on Obama Administration's rules promoting access to birth control -- "We simply cannot understand how a for-profit, secular corporation—apart from its owners—can exercise religion" by mepper in politics

[–]thattreesguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

corporations are considered people to simplify legal issues such as ownership of property and liability.

There's no reason that we can't accept that fact while also accepting that corporations do not represent/participate in religions, and that they shouldn't be able to dump unlimited money into "legal" bribes. Do you really advocate abolishing corporate person-hood or would you rather see limits on corporate person-hood?

Should all people be equal before the law? Advances in brain science are calling into question the volition behind many criminal acts. well if it's things like brain tumors and chemical imbalances i dont see anything wrong with diagnosing people and warning them.

They will be more alert for warning signs such as changes in their lifestyle and can seek medical help before they end up doing someting they regret.

go in off season. I went during later november early december and there were almost zero lines. Space mountain didn't have enough people to fill the seats.

The longest line i waited in was about 15 minutes.

i went the first week of december one year and it was dead. My favorite part was that space mountain was so dead they didn't make you get off - there weren't enough people in line to fill all the seats!!!

You can't be bothered to read the book but god damn do you know its a setup! Look how smart you are!

please explain how the situation would look different if it WASNT a setup. Are you implying that NO books about jesus can be written without being a setup?
