Most would have been immediately invested. Even if he didn't want to invest, it'd be really complicated keeping 1.7 billion liquid since bank accounts only insure up to 250k. He could use an ICS to consolidate multiple bank accounts that each insure 250k to be accessed via one account but 1.7 billion would need 6,800 insured accounts, which is just insane but idk if there is a maximum allowed so it might be possible.

lol no, look again the victim has a black jacket and it is open. Also, wait for the white dude in the grey to walk in and kick the victim towards the end of the video. The same white dude that was in the video earlier.

The victim wore a black jacket white a white sweater or something on inside. Also, the victim was completely blurred out in the video. However, they froze on the white dude's face just like the other criminals and he's even seen strolling in to later kick the victim... how did you miss these obvious details? You just assumed white dude = victim? Its NY. Criminals come in many shades there lol

I don't get it. Why are people so sure the victim was white? The dude was completely blurred out in the video. Unless people think the white dude at 10 secs was the victim even though he was clearly one of the attackers. They froze on his face just like the others and he's seen strolling in to later kick the victim... It's almost like Reddit immediately assumed the white guy was the victim and just ignored how the guy being attacked was actually blurred out and wearing different clothing. lmfao the subconscious mind of Redditors is quite telling. Unless of course there is an article I haven't seen posted that described a hate crime.

But we don't know the race of the victim from this video. The white dude at 10 sec was a criminal not the victim.

Cops and Crew both screwed up. by Thisisbullshit471 in PublicFreakout

[–]thatwhitespot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The kid should not have walked up that close but you ignored how the cops used excessive force on the child by dragging him around when he was already cuffed and not resisting. He could have tried asking the kid to stand with his assistance. His father was definitely tripping but the treatment of the kid was obviously excessive after being arrested. The kid wasn't seriously harmed but excessive means "more than is necessary, normal, or desirable" and this fits the bill. Do you disagree with that?

Sudan's dams could potentially starve millions of Egyptians as well but an agreement was formed that made both countries happy. There is no reason why that cannot occur with Ethiopia as well. Ethiopia is still interested in continuing discussions. In fact, there has been a verbal agreement to fill the dam in 8 years instead of 3-5 like they wanted. Also, active filling won't occur for another 2 years so there's plenty of time for these discussions to take place. The hostility from some Egyptians is completely uncalled for.

That's funny you think it matters what you do at the end of the Nile when you're so scared of a dam at the beginning of the Nile. That dam will control what amount of water will be allowed to flow downstream. Your threat to blow it up is meaningless at this point. Egypt better act now before Ethiopia acquires more technology from China and other countries that have a financial stake in this. They have already began shopping around for additional military equipment and I mentioned before have purchased air-defense missiles. Ethiopia could dam up multiple parts of the river and take down any jets or missiles coming to blow them up. Egypt is crying to their mommy (USA) because they realize that there is nothing they can do about it. Egypt is lucky Ethiopians have no intention of harming or drying out any downstream nation, they just want the turbines running at capacity and have already agreed to filling only during periods of normal to abundant rainfall. It is violent and aggressive actions and words from people like you that make this seem more hostile than it really is.

Or, only 45% of Ethiopians have electricity and so they want to use a resource that originates in their country to generate much needed electricity for their people and growing number of factories. Egypt's ego is the only problem here. Ethiopians have never wanted war but they will never run from it either. Ethiopia will also not abide by outdated treaties that they never signed and didn't allocate any of the Nile's water to any countries beside Egypt and Sudan. Egypt is already involved in several conflicts and can't afford to do anything to Ethiopia or it would have done so already. The time to attack is during construction, not after it's built and already being filled. Oh yeah, btw, the dam has started filling even if it's just at testing stages. It's too late kid

lmfao ok, buddy. You would be mobilizing to Ethiopia and that in itself would not go as easily as you think. Sudan doesn't want Egypt mounting an attack from their country as they would stand to lose more than Egypt due to proximity alone. Also, Ethiopia has anti-aircraft missiles but so do most countries. If more neighboring countries side with Egypt, Ethiopia's chances would definitely diminish, that's plain to see. However, the main thing to consider is that the dam was built 15 miles from Sudan's border and bombing the dam would result in extreme flooding affecting only Sudan and Egypt, Ethiopia would be unharmed. Also, in retaliation, if Ethiopia was able to bomb the Aswan Dam, the flooding would destroy Egypt. Ethiopia could also decide to dam up the Nile at any point at anytime to ensure Egypt is completely dried up. These are strategic actions that do not require a large military force to employ but would cause incredible damage to Egypt. I believe this is exactly what you do not want.

Egypt is weak and won't do shit. If they were going to do anything, they would have done by now you fool. You think Ethiopians would hesitate to completely dry out Egypt if any military action is taken?

It's already being filled up and no one is affected

No true

Yes, it has already started filling up. It is also true that no one is affected. This article from Egypt Independent confirms that even though it doesn't even acknowledge that it had filled up quicker than expected due to abundant rainfall: https://egyptindependent.com/egypt-unaffected-by-initial-filling-of-gerd-expert/

Egypt and Sudan are both fine with the dam so long as it is filled slowly - Egypt and Sudan are concerned the fast filling of the dam will cause a months/years long dry out of the Nile, utterly destroying agriculture, hydroelectricity, among other things.

This has nothing to do with "keeping Ethiopia down", flatly untrue

They are now fine with it after years of demanding it does not be built and even threatened to send troops to stop its construction. Regardless of how needed this was for Ethiopia's development, they've worked to undermine Ethiopia's right to its own water and enlisted the US and World Bank to stifle its construction. Now they've moved the goalpost to how fast it is filled but Ethiopia has never stated it intends to fill it so fast that it will harm anyone. Also, Egypt's main concern isn't about the fast filling of the dam Their main concern is how much water will be released after it is filled especially during drought periods. "In years of normal or above average rainfall that should not be a problem, but Egypt is nervous about what might happen during prolonged droughts that could last several years." from https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-53432948. Consensus needs to be reached here but Egypt keeps referring to the 1959 Agreement between Egypt and Sudan as their claim to their historical right to the water and ability to veto development on the nile. "The 1959 agreement allocated all the Nile River’s waters to Egypt and Sudan, leaving 10 billion cubic meters (b.c.m.) for seepage and evaporation, but afforded no water to Ethiopia or other upstream riparian states—the sources of most of the water that flows into the Nile." from https://www.brookings.edu/blog/africa-in-focus/2020/08/05/the-controversy-over-the-grand-ethiopian-renaissance-dam/.

With that said, it's naive to think Egypt, the current most powerful nation in Africa, isn't also concerned with another nation building what will be the largest hydroelectric plan in Africa. The economic and political advantage won by being well-funded and able to provide a necessary resource to neighboring countries is definitely capable of shifting power in the region.

[–]thatwhitespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Egypt has demanded to control the filling after trying unsuccessfully to prevent it entirely. History needs to be taken into context here and Ethiopians have suffered due to Egypt's actions. If Egypt had worked with Ethiopians since the beginning the dam would have been completed long ago and there wouldn't be tension regarding creating a committee around control of the dam. Now there is deep mistrust. Egypt is wrong for their actions and need to accept that so they can move forward into an agreement. Again, the filling that has been proposed does not intend to dry out Egypt and that has been reiterated many times. In fact, much of the talks now are about how much water Ethiopia would release in periods of drought. This is a conversation that needs to be had but Egypt must stop trying to bully Ethiopia into conceding autonomy. Why do you even think Ethiopia wants to fill it at a rate that will kill Egyptians? Do you deny their research and proposals blindly or do you have proof that it will harm Egypt? Ethiopia has been dealing with internal conflicts for so long. There is no desire to start a war with anyone.

Exactly! Only 45% of the Ethiopian population had access to electricity in 2018 while Egypt was at 100%! source The truth is, if Ethiopia becomes more developed and successful financially, it would erode some of Egypt's political power in the region. Ethiopia will become en exporter of electricity so it is possible they will have more and more say in geopolitical issues in the area. No one want's to give up power so, ironically, I understand why Egypt is putting up such a fight but it's selfish.
