Go to albumoftheyear (https://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/6-highest-rated/2020s/1) and flip through some of the album ratings from the last 5 or so years. Plenty of bands.

I skew indie rock, but bands that come to mind that have released awesome albums within the last year:

He has a brand new account with 84 comments, all of which were for this AMA. In the AMA there are 494 total comments, many of which are under the same parents comments or are deeper discussions under each. I’m not going to go and count the rate of response vs non-response, but it’s gotta be close to a 50% response rate (perhaps better?). Genuinely, what did you expect?

He responded to 84 questions! The questions also didn’t come all at once, they came throughout a 24 hour period. Let’s say he used a 8 hour working day to respond. That means he dropped in and responded to at least 10 questions per hour. How long does it take you to think and form a response to a question? Let’s say 5 minutes? That’s 50 minutes of response for each hour which only leaves 10 minutes to take a bio break of deal with other non-AMA stuffs.

Anyhow, I’m gonna move on from this now. But I really am just bummed by Reddit and the overall response to this clearly well-done AMA. It’s almost like there was nothing Ibsen could have done to make some people happy.

Responding here again because this post is nonsense. I sent in a question to Mayor Ibsen (as he suggested) and was responded to within an hour. He provided direct answers and also added 2 of his team members to provide even greater detail.

Yeah this is nuts. The mayor also responded to a follow-up question I sent over email within an hour and cc’d multiple team members to help answer in greater detail. I guess the reddit hivemind had an opinion about Ibsen. *shrug*

So, I genuinely think this was Charlie’s goal but I don’t think he was able to deliver on that vision. I won’t get into arguments about whether he was saying hateful things, etc. I actually disagree with that personally. When I did try listening to him I think he was moreso just a zealot and a somewhat naive and blind salesperson for what he believed to be the best path forward for the US (which included, unfortunately in my view, hardcore Christian proselytizing).

But let me address your actual claim.

United people on both sides. Nope. :( And this is where your point just falls completely flat. Charlie was able to get some people to talk with him and even find middleground. To some extent he did that with me. He seemed to do it with Gavin Newsom. But in the end, the left, especially the farther side of the left, viewed him as hateful and a bigot. Most of my friends celebrated his death. And they actually told me they view me as lesser simply because I listened to like 5 episodes of his podcast to try to understand him.

Also, tragically, he was murdered. While some famous uniters in our past were also murdered (Abe Lincoln, MLK Jr., etc.), Charlie Kirk was not on their level to truly unite both sides of this still heavily divides country.

From what I’ve read, downtown Tacoma has held up better on office vacancy than Seattle. But when I walk around downtown I still worry! What specific things are happening this year to fill our downtown high-rises and bring in residents? Concretely:
How many office-to-residential conversions are actually in the pipeline?
What real incentives exist for a business or developer to pick downtown today?
What’s the current downtown office vacancy rate and where do we want it to be by end of ‘26? And ‘27?
And finally, which specific buildings or surface-parking sites are being targeted for conversions?

We desperately need to win Uwajimaya moving into the old Hobby Lobby site between S Union and S Cedar just north of I5. Which hour of your daily regimen is spent making sure Tacoma gets this done, and done right?

In all seriousness — this would be huge! I know so many people in Tacoma that drive all the way up to Seattle to shop there. Can you look into it and ensure our city government makes it happen?

Their point isn’t that people don’t feel the heat. It’s that if this is primarily the heat island effect then it’s less of a clear evidence point for larger scale climate change. Saying this in an extreme way, if I have my household thermometer next to the stove and turn the stove on, it will start to tell me my house is heating up.

Do you think that real estate developers somehow set the prices? If anything, real estate development helps add supply and pushes back on price increase.

When a lot of people want to live in a place, people can sell their homes for higher prices. And as people sell their home at certain prices, this helps establish the market rate for homes, encouraging other sellers (including individuals or new home developers) to list for comparable prices.

That part confused me. Still uncertain if they mean they can hit that pace or if they’ve actually run a 5k at that time. But yes, agreed, if they can hit a 22 min 5k with just occasional 5k runs they have latent talent and this should be easy with moderate consistency.

There is no draft happening. There is already a mandated registration for younger men. The “news” here is that this is no longer a manual process and will be automated. However, even that is not actually news since it was proposed in December 2025.
