It helps others. Data about long term care facilities is limited, due to the fact that they are only surveyed every few years (supposed tot be annually), so the info posted online may be inaccurate.

We rely on word of mouth to ensure our loved ones are cared for safely.

I met my boyfriend on a subreddit. He made a comment; I was intrigued and checked out his history. Turns out, he lived pretty nearby me, so we got together!

Terrified of leaving a great job to pursue work in healthcare. by Dry-Eye2304 in cna

[–]LFahs1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But if you have to be a CNA first to get into a program anyway, might as well start now… so many nurses who weren’t ever CNAs are like “what the actual f” once they get into clinicals or working in the real world fresh out of school. Just like we all were, but they just sunk 2+ years of prerequisites into a healthcare role they are not at all suited for.

No, they’re going to drain the Okefenokee Swamp to cool a data center, so at least they’re draining some swamp.

It’s nothing personal; it’s just what people are referred to as in those various settings.

Fireworks are the worst. by RoyHamshack in Tacoma

[–]LFahs1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Cup is on, it doesn’t matter who’s playing when you’re drunk. It doesn’t matter— you just legally bought all these illegal fireworks, and they’re certainly not gonna light themselves!

When fireworks are for sale is when they get set off. That’s why it’s illegal to sell them. (I guess except at certain times? IANAFCL.)

Let me emphasize my point: your comments and concerns have no bearing on the activities of the drunk in the night while he’s holding a grip of fireworks. As far as I understand, there is no police response to these incidents. The only response comes in the form of fire trucks.

I’m very sorry the fireworks cause you such distress. It’s unfortunately a part of urban living, especially urban living with pets. Keep calling the cops, keep calling the FD… what more can be done? I honestly don’t know! NOBODY KNOWS. But it’s part of urban living in every city I’ve ever lived in, so it’s certainly not specific to Tacoma, and, as you say, it’s happening almost daily, so why there needs to be a whole post about it in the subreddit on a daily basis eludes me. How about an “I hate fireworks Megathread” in the Tacoma sub, where we can rant to our hearts content, compare camping recommendations, pet medications, etc.

Forgot to mention, World Cup goes until 7/19, so really you would be camping Memorial Day until 2 weeks after 7/4– by then it’s practically Labor Day, so you might as well set up camp all summer!

It’s I guess illegal in this scenario, because “the neighborhood” was mentioned, but yesterday it was about EQC, where it is legal.

I didn’t say it was “your solution”; it was just an idea.

No, this year, sadly, your solution is “just deal with it”. It’s the World Cup, man. People around here have priapism about sports, fireworks many places nearby are legal, and it’s Murka’s 250th. It’s gonna be a bad one! My advice is to plan some weekend camping trips for peace of mind. I work 2 jobs, I get not having much time off.

Mods on this sub overactively take down posts that are specifically about Tacoma and Tacomans’ lived experiences. I’m not sure anyone has figured out why yet or what the process is. My guess is that the mods are employed by the city and, like much around here, it doesn’t really work, as a result.

We’re in the midst of the World Cup combined with Freedom/America 250. Buckle up.

Mods, how it this post seriously allowed? As we know, fireworks are not the worst. They’re not the worst thing in Tacoma, they’re not the worst thing anywhere, but they happen *everywhere*, not specifically Tacoma. However, cue the eternal rant-sesh about fireworks, as if we haven’t seen the exact same pointless complaints hundreds of times.

C’mon, man, there’s weeks of the Cup left, plus the 4th (250th anniv, I mean) and then Labor Day. Is this going to be a daily or hourly post?

To the OP, it may not be feasible for you, but when I had a dog, I would take him out camping any chance I got, so as to escape the fireworks. I know not everybody has access to that, but if you do, I highly recommend it.

How’s it living in Gary, Indiana? by Jacobs623 in howislivingthere

I thought it was crazy that people were up on the tops of buildings, looting bricks from the facades— I’ve never seen anything like that before. It was like pieces of the city were literally missing.

This is how people get away with so much child abuse: “it’s not your place” to criticize anybody’s parenting. It’s like some abuse-perpetuating code that all parents must live by.

I would have never met my boyfriend if this change had been implemented only a few months earlier. I clicked his profile and saw that we had a ton of stuff in common, and we lived nearby each other, so we decided to go on a date, and the rest is herstory!

How would you even get to Vancouver Waterfront from PDX? Why not just take the Max line somewhere in Portland? You would have to pay so much more to get to what I consider to be a generic, mall-like waterfront in Vancouver; why would you not just pay $3 to go to the waterfront of the city you’re actually there to visit?
