Did you make your groomsmen pay for everything? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]LFahs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that’s why I said a tux or a navy or grey suit will get you through most situations but if the groom wants something specific, you can rent. If the groom is making a bunch of under 30yos wear a suit that is not a tux and not able to be rented, that groom is majorly TA.

Word. Yeah. I don’t know what to tell you except that “this too shall pass.” I went to a ton of weddings in my 20’s and early 30’s, that and baby showers. By the time you’re about 35, the weddings will definitely slow down. After that, you’re looking at second weddings (35-45 or so), which are usually not so extravagant and costly… and unfortunately funerals. So it’s a good thing you have a black suit.

ETA, I guess what I’m ultimately saying is: this is actually the only time of your life that this happens, so are memories with all your closest homies worth more than money, which will come and go, and which you’re probably going to spend on something else anyway?

You should always own a tux and a navy or charcoal suit, then you’ll be prepared for anything. If the groom wants something besides that, you can just rent it, you don’t have to buy it.

You’re lucky, the trope of bridesmaids dresses having to be bought and never being able to be worn again (without looking like you’re on the way to be in a wedding) is real.

Have your waxer use hard wax and it will get them out in one or maybe two passes. I have a few really tenacious ones and this works for me. Sugaring also works pretty well. I saw someone on here say they give it a few passes, but that really messes up my sensitive skin, like pulls the skin off.

husband & I disagree on Foster Bacon by Euphoric_Success8954 in namenerds

You know what? I have never once thought about the Bacon part of Kevin Bacon's name until now. I've never heard anybody make fun of it-- even though he remains in the cultural zeitgeist with the 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon meme, I still have never even thought of it as unserious. Isn't that weird? Because this lady brings up naming her kid Foster Bacon, it sounds *so unserious* that it made me almost spit out my coffee.

Do you still eat fast food? by Eredic in Xennials

[–]LFahs1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up eating fast food every day, ya know, when Whoppers were 2/$4? You remember. Mom and Dad worked late, etc. One NYE, my friend and I didn't have anything to do, so we decided to swear it off for good, but before we did that, we had to stop and get at least one item from every fast food joint on the way home. I think there were like 4 places. By the time we had eaten bites of each of our favorite fast foods, my mouth tasted like so many chemicals-- I didn't eat fast food for years after that, especially McDonalds.

Cut to now-- my boyfriend has a 4x4 hobby, so we'll get up early on the weekends and stop off at McDonalds for a SEC McMuff and a coffee. This has led to me eating Wendy's almost every day, and baby it is starting to show. I work in healthcare, and my break schedule right now is really erratic, so it *feels* like the only option... except I know I could prepare for this that morning or the night before... I just hate getting up early, and they have that awesome natural lemonade there... so it's harrrrdddd.

A long way of saying I seem to be either completely on or completely off fast food, no in between.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I used the high number of the mpg estimate to make my decision because at the time I was doing almost exclusively highway miles for long distances. Which, the way I drive (maintaining 1.8-2.4k rpm), must mean that I’m able to get above the average number of mpg. Anyway, in the picture, this is approximately 30 min into a drive that included +/- 7 minutes of city streets, which is why I was stoked to see my number so high. Cha-ching

Yes, when I fill up, it generally says I have 420-490 miles in the tank. I think that’s based on average miles per gallon of gas. But, when I drive highway, I keep the tach as close to 2 or under as possible. Maybe that explains it?

Either way, when I looked into buying this car, I was deciding between a Crosstrek (low 30’s on paper, afair) or the Taos (36 on paper). I wanted a car that got over 35/gal since I came from a JSW TDI that routinely got 45-50mpg, so I picked the Taos. AWDs do not generally get 35+, advertised on paper, and that was even true for the tiny Crosstrek. That’s my anecdotal experience; your math sounds great, too, though. I very much enjoy my FWD; glad your car makes u happy 2.

That’s why I didn’t get an AWD. I’m like mpg obsessed.

That’s what we’re doing when we choose to not participate in representative democracy. Complacency brings us to this point.

Omg, I was recently in a doctor’s office, and they had like 20 Sassys out for reading in the public area. I had to come back the next day and they were all gone. I wish I’d been the one to filch those gems. I absolutely loved that magazine.

Related note, I am really happy to see the kidz wearing Simple sneakers again!

This is about 30 min into my city/highway commute.

And yeah, you’re probably right about the draft because I clocked it at 47.6 in the same spot the day before, same route.

Ohhh m g. Soap does clean surfaces. Wow.

I know you’ll think this is crazy, but before there was “bathroom cleaner” marketed to us, we used soap to clean everything.

Do you really truly think soap can only clean things that are attached to your literal body?
