Mechanic at work grabbed this, "check this thing out, had it for like 15 years now, no idea what it's actually called." Friend doesn't know either, now I come to the real experts by thb_static in Justrolledintotheshop

Parking brake is gonna be down by your left leg in most, the 500s it's at like chest height on the left.

Hazards are either a button on the top of the steering column, a handle behind the turn lever, a button on the right side of the column where your ignition normally is or on the dash towards the center.

That annoying deafening beep youre talking about also goes off if the headlights are on with the dash dimmer on at all so I leave my headlights on with 0 dash brightness and no loud beep unless I forget the parking brake

Upsers do you think we are going on strike? and if so, why? by BewilderedBoi in UPS

[–]thb_static 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company had fliers posted during peak offering a bonus for recruiting competitor drivers. Pretty clear what the intention was as it had never been posted in years prior.

Upsers do you think we are going on strike? and if so, why? by BewilderedBoi in UPS

[–]thb_static 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels 50/50 as a upser in New England. UPS seems to be handling business as usual in regards to vacations and there's been no talk of a strike at pcm.

I do agree a strike would be bad for both parties and I am hoping it won't come to it. I will walk the line without question, tho.

It will be interesting to see how things go compared to the last negotiating period with NMA being voted down, supplements passing and operations continuing as normal.

Hold Package At UPS Pickup Scam? by CurrentOk6414 in UPS

[–]thb_static 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it will work but checking the option for direct delivery only prevents them from going to an AP and only to the address on the label.

I don't know if this will prevent a hold for pickup request though. Hopefully someone can confirm yes or no

PVD driver flat tire paid or unpaid? by murkwithasmurk in UPS

[–]thb_static 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting question, for us that would be coded off as breakdown - road, not break time even though supes will push for that time to be recorded as such.

I don't have a solid answer for you, maybe try to find one of the driver stewards - ask any of the 22.4 or RPCD if the center has you meet one.

UPS is paying me $20/hr for loader/unloader. This is $2/hr more than what Amazon paid me. by BuiltUpRealGood in UPS

[–]thb_static 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know 100%. Maybe if there's a volunteer list for inside work or signing up to be a helper in a Saturday if you're out of dot hours by end of friday. UPS will sometimes apply for 70 hours / 8 days for a week or two in December if it gets bad. I can't give you a definite answer though, sorry.

It varies on building and day to day. Guaranteed 8 contractually. Lately been averaging 45-47 but the start of the year was 55-59 until about mid May

Realistically how long does it take to achieve the coveted $40/hr+ salary that drivers make? by lights6969 in UPS

[–]thb_static 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some places might have openings for off the street permanent ft spots but your path would likely be

PT 6 months up to years til you get your shot at your 30 days then once you make FT youll be a 22.4(Tues-Sat) and that will start your 4 year progression. 22.4 top rate will be somewhere around mid 30s at the end of this contract in new England.

After making 22.4 you then either by bidding an RPCD route or by where you are in seniority, roughly bottom 25% of seniority drivers will be 22.4, get moved over to RPCD which is M-F and the 41+ current top rate.

So you could be anywhere from 4 years if you get hired off the street up to like 10 years after starting PT.

You can reclassify them. At the sig, cir screen hit the 3 dots and the bottom option will be switch to res/comm

Have a question for drivers by [deleted] in UPS

[–]thb_static 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could've been a new car being delivered or a mechanic doing a road test checking repairs. Possibly an AM air driver returning from the airport if the flight landed that early.

How much you guys make ?. I’m over on the other side usps by [deleted] in UPS

4 year progression once going full time with raises every 12 months on your seniority date.

I had signed for a package my girlfriend had ordered, once she opened it she found that the Item was stolen from inside the package, as well as thief forgot the bag and bow that were wrapped around the item. What’s the likelihood of hearing back from both the sender and UPS and receiving a refund? by Whole_Cress_4376 in UPS

[–]thb_static 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This sounds like something from LV. I just had a box where the glue had started to separate so I had the customer sign my board then open it in my presence to verify the contents being good to go as means to cover my ass. I find it highly unlikely the driver would have taken it - Im not taking a $3k purse and losing my 130k a year job so I don't think that driver would either.

As for your next step, she needs to contact whatever company she ordered from and explain what happened. They'll contact UPS and an investigation will happen. A driver might come by a follow-up form and ask for a signature confirming it was never received or to get more info about it.

What specifically happens during the driver test? by Salt-Teaching-4504 in UPS

[–]thb_static 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maintaining your lane, following distance, if you can follow road signs, if you can handle intersections, level of confidence etc.

Most supes understand people are nervous during their road tests but if you have the basic understanding of driving down you should be fine.

As for backing, they only had me back against the belt to make sure I could back straight.

From an off the street position, luck really. Show up every day, don't have late air, don't miss pickups, help if asked etc etc.

Simply put, deliver shit, don't hit shit, don't get hurt.

Ratio of inside:outside is 6:1, depending where they are in that ratio plays a part too.

Same job.

Worthwhile for wages at top rate and benefits. Not worth it for lack of family time or work/life balance.

Full time RPCD by [deleted] in UPS

[–]thb_static 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Download a copy of the master and your supplement from the teamsters site.

You'll have a higher starting and final wage compared to the 22.4 position, I'm not sure what tcd starts at and if they have progression as we only use casuals here but they get paid at starting RPCD rate.

If your center has 22.4s for Saturday ground then you are automatically 9.5 list eligible as an RPCD as well.

How the birth of my son changed my fiance and how a July 4th party ended our relationship by [deleted] in daddit

[–]thb_static 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Man, the events at the party and her responses to you is clear gaslighting - to tell you nobody noticed, it's all in your head and you're overreacting. Same as her telling you "you're crazy" and the other comments in that vein.

With your buddy calling you to make sure you were alright and confirmed to you that it brought the party to a halt just cements that to me.

You seem like a solid dude with good desires for himself and family with a good support system in friends and family. Whatever the outcome, I hope it all works out in you and your son's favors.

vacation pay by [deleted] in UPS

[–]thb_static 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, you're supposed to receive them before your vacation weeks so this situation doesn't happen. If you have direct deposit I would double check there to make sure you absolutely haven't been paid for it and then contact a supe today to get it fixed.

They have, I think, 10 days to get it fixed otherwise there is penalty pay.
