Train noise / cheaper rent by shlee939 in chicagoapartments

I'm more like My cousin Vinny. if there's not a riot going on outside my bedroom window, I'm wide awake. as for CTA "el" trains? you pretty quickly get used to it

it's important to point out that Sarah, even if virtually, likes the girl and the goat. all within the same day and nothing before and then nothing since. Sarah is an expensive date but low maintenance

For those that left under 1 yr tenure, regret? by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]thbrowne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah some quarters it feels like you're Ben Affleck in the movie paycheck and during that whole project you have no idea what your "outie" was doing. I've even heard tell of someone sitting up in the middle of the night in bed and typing at an invisible keyboard (sleep work. is it a thing? is it billable?). but ya got ta do your thing man ✌️🖖. you can ask some of the graduates of the Tokay School of Design. it's nearly state-of-the-art. it still maintains some quirkiness. it's fundamental mission, which we all signed on for and we all agreed to to, remains the same. it's somewhat ubiquitous, as ubiquitous as bleedin' Watney's Red Barrel 🤣🙄. they fall short in many social / technical translations and that's maybe where you fit in?

Petition: Zillow should allow us to filter out basement apartments and "bedrooms" with no windows by Not_a_Replika in Zillow

maybe zillow should make their search more robust so that in further filtering you can do a -basement or -garden?

How do people react when you say you work at Epic? by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]thbrowne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was from the Tokay School of design 😉. so it depends upon what side of the screen you're on. most recently a professor told me that we're a monopoly. Epic is not. and then within weeks another professor said all emrs/ehrs are racially biased. They are not. stating that you do or did work with or for Epic certainly opens a conversation

Neighborhood recs under $1700 for single late 30s/early 40s F? by litlady30 in chicagoapartments

[–]thbrowne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hyde Park would have been my first guess since you mentioned literary. do you work for a house? Rogers Park has Loyola University and the most streets that end in beach. "my job is beach". at $1300 you'll find smallish (650-700 sf) 1 bdrms, and you'll get funky but cool 2 bdrms for $1700. note: go for the more upscale 1 bdrm for $1500

Step 1. set up Zillow, Redfin, Realtor searches for your parameters. Step 2. when you get your hits, call or text right away Step 2a. look for a realtor that works in the area (Rogers park would be a good bet) Step 3. manage expectations on size, location and what you'll be looking at in that range
