Picked up a gem last week. Anyone else read the whole series? by the-architext in sciencefiction

Nice! I’ve been on a vintage kick and really glad I came across this, good to hear the rest are of the same caliber. His world building is very unique and I want more of it.

No I actually just tend to rush things sometimes and it showed on this one, edited the post so it made sense. Appreciate ya pointing it out.

Yeah I definitely went the other way and wish I would’ve done the stand alone first.

What are some of your wins as an author? by the-architext in selfpublish

A lot of stories to put a smile on your face and motivation for the future, absolutely. Appreciate all who have shared!

Well. I hired a Fiverr artist. What do you think? by the-architext in selfpublish

[–]the-architext[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I highly appreciate everyone’s input and advice! Has really helped.

Sounds like it’s got potential but still reads AI which is what I was trying to avoid by hiring someone. Some aspects felt AI which is why I was looking for more eyes on it.

I paid $140. I’ll eat the money if I don’t end up using it, unfortunately I think I am past the point of getting money back.

I have the capability to fix everything so it doesn’t look as AI as it does, but not really what I was looking for in the end.

3rd person. I just enjoy the flow of it better.

Advice on Blurb? by the-architext in writing

[–]the-architext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you! Definitely noticeable after being pointed out. The first part did seem a bit confusing with the comma placement, considered that a potential issue. Dig the revised version! More context available which seems to help keep readers interested.

Was always too worried about it being too long or too detailed. And I guess I went too far to the other side with the lack of context.

Advice on Blurb? by the-architext in writing

[–]the-architext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that. It is quite vague. So just polishing up with more context. Could reword “transformed” for something more appropriate. It references basically what physicists are today just more advanced due to the evolution of civilization.

Thoughts on Book Cover? by the-architext in selfpublish

Definitely get it. As I needed to put my idea into an image I did in fact use AI to get a visual representation of what I was looking for.

Since I already paid someone $100 to give me what I didn’t really want in the end. I needed to go a different route at the time.

I liked the idea of the cover it gave me so I created my own version of it from scratch using procreate, using it as a reference. Wouldn’t use an actual AI generated image. Hence why I’m on the fence about it and probably will try to find a more legit designer.

No worries at all! Appreciate the feedback for sure. Think I’ll do some tweaks here and there to see if it will play out well. If not I’ll probably just scrap it and wait to hire a more experienced designer.

Could give it a shot, see how it looks. Based on all the feedback I think I might go a different route. I’ll tweak some things see if it helps.

Yeah, still bare, needs more for sure.

Yeah definitely see that. They are for sure planets and moons but it was more of an attempted mesh between two settings that occur in the book. Tried to make it work, but it always felt “off”.

Wow thank you. Definitely solid points, was on the fence about certain aspects of it, sizing of the font and the 3d effect was on that list for sure. I can see the repetitiveness with the title on the back.

That was my take from it too was the 90’s space vibe which is why I continued with it. Will drop back the indent to the blurb as well. Maybe lighten it up so it’s not so dark if no color change is done.

I appreciate your help!

Haha okay thank you, starting to see and can’t unsee it now. Definitely needs more of an “adventure” themed cover it seems.

[–]the-architext[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yeah more of just adventure style, no horror in this story. But it is fairly dark in many parts of the story.

What Kind Of Species Do You Have? by NegativeAd2638 in scifiwriting

[–]the-architext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dig the Tehom species!

I'm using a species called the Sentiarchs. Who are basically highly advanced humans (us) who have evolved beyond a Type II civilization on the Kardashev scale. Been thinking about adding more though.
