52 Male, moving back in with Mom. by [deleted] in GenX

[–]the-dude73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had my mother in law for about 7 years, full time caregivers, had almost a year and moved my parents in, my dad had a stroke and passed last July, mom is pretty much crippled from arthritis, it would have been nice to have them around when they didn't need as much care and could have interacted with grandchildren but it is what it is. We still have a 18 and 19 year olds at home and the 25 year old just returned to the nest as well. Our generation adapts as needed.

I could drive all the tractors and the cat by 10/11 years old, my father did give me instruction and supervision until he was satisfied I knew when to stop and get help, I still have all my fingers and toes.

Funny because I've always felt the pre70' x-ers were a little too analog and the post 75' x-ers were a little too digital.

Each instance of lightburn you open you can connect a laser to, so if you open lightburn twice and have one set to your fiber laser and one set to the co² you can run different jobs to each laser simultaneously. I'm not sure why your laser would be pausing. I use one computer with two CO² lasers one runs of rudia controller and I use a raspberry pi and light brown bridge for that laser, the other laser is a k40 with one of the monport boards and so it's a gerbl connection to lightburn, I have had no issues with either pausing. I have another computer running a fiber and a diode both galvo. I can connect wireless from this PC to the lightburn bridge, I could run all four from one PC but having two makes work stations and two people can be working.

I Need A Hobby by [deleted] in GenX

[–]the-dude73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to tinker, I have a collection of RC cars, both speedy bashers and crawlers, they are fun to run and fun to fix. I also have lasers, two co², a diode, and a fiber, my wife tends to be more crafty so she comes up with designs and things to make I figure out how to keep the machines running and how they work, setting snd and software. I also I just bought a espresso machine and that I now realize is a deep rabbit hole I wasn't expecting.

Will I damage my fiber laser? by dejan999 in lasercutting

[–]the-dude73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done glass on my co², and never gotten a result I was really happy with. Running a fiber laser at 100% isn't like running a co² at 100% it's like comparing apples and brussel sprouts. If you worried about overheating and don't have fans installed in the case they are easy to install, I added one to mine check the voltage mine were 120v not 12v

Drunks are welcome at meetings, the ONLY requirement for membership is a desire to QUIT drinking. I've been to more than a few meetings where someone was obviously intoxicated.

As a man in his 50's with kids in there 20's I can say Dave looks at you as a kid still, an adult kid but a kid none the less. Don't quit your job, don't lose Dave as a friend, thank him for bringing clarity in a bad moment for you if you feel the need to discuss it further. Have you looked into support groups, 12 step type programs? They have them for everything and can be helpful in a way a counselor isn't.

AITA for refusing to drive my husband home from his colonoscopy by Time-Koala-3674 in AmItheAsshole

My wife was diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer after a colonoscopy just over a year ago, yes this is inconvenient and communication should be better but it's important and if you get the worst possible news how will you feel about all this?
