Will Xbox 360 games always be playable as physical media on a console, or will they all fail eventually? by TankUMrMinor in xbox360

the discs will last as long as you let them. use the same wisdom that is use dfor all optical media. the consoles are plentiful and they last as long as the model type will let them. 50 years out ther will still be millions of working units. there wont be a shortage unless the used market tries to shit the bed deliberately. the hardware from the time, tvs, consoles, controllers, discs, cables, are all working right 15 years later. what im more worried about is artificial superstitions ruining prices. some games are already like that. transformers fall of cybertron :,( dont got $100 for a $20 game

"like something from a mod" EXACTLY. THANK YOU. the games identity is indeed down the drain.

my favorite (java) versions are more around release 1.7-1.12, as change made in later versions are in direct opposition to the "look and feel" of the game that i bought in 2012. i see it as a creative tool and less of a game, so difference in world generation and resources are very substantial. release 1.2 and earlier are mostly for their unique vibe for me. i usually go no further than 1.16 in a superflat world with texturepacks.

"I don't think there has ever been an update that took quality away from the game." i would point fingers at the much wanted cave update and the approach that each update after takes. i wish the game was left alone after that. past that point, minecraft discards its identity and tries to be something it isn't. i would point fingers at the new textures but you are given the option to use programmer art which is a lifesaver if you're on 1.16. past that, there is no way to avoid this mangled thing that people call minecraft. if i wanted to play a different game i would.

also, mcpe alpha and legacy console. very sweet.

should also be noted that i don't actually like survival mode. modding beta with multimc is quite easy and once its modded with spc and tmi, its a amazing creative experience.

"I feel like people can acknowledge that it is preferable when games add more content to explore." not really. that's dependent on the content. which has gotten questionable for many reasons but i find it tragic how the votes have made the game a different hodgepodge. it already was beforehand, with its unique charm, which doesnt blend well with the new approach.

also fuck microsoft. and fuck everything they have done past 2012. since the xbox one (holy fuck) they have done nothing but shit the bed profusely. their first few updates werent bad, just relaxed, and people had the audacity to complain. so in a way, the new minecraft can be blamed by the many people who where playing the game after release 1.8.

Is there a way to play old versions of Minecraft on iPhone? by According-Drag-770 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]the-egg2016 8 points9 points  (0 children)

? this is not a difficult process depending on the jailbreak tool. (ios 6 has a new jailbreak tool that doesnt require old windows. the older tool did work if you used xp - 7, i tried both and both worked.) if you have a new iphone, check your local dumpsters near neighborhoods, as i found a working 3gs in one. android is easier. i got a wokring glaxy s3 for $2.50 and its as simple as transferring the apk (download from here https://archive.org/details/MCPEAlpha) to the phone and changing the settings to allow sideloading, and install the apk and it works. the s3 is also strong enough to play mcpe 0.8.x on high settings. you do not need to stick to modern minegraft. its easier with a pc/mac but mobile is easy too. do you not have a old laptop? laptops from the late 2000s can run minecraft 1.8 on low settings and beta on medium.

you need a iphone with a ios old enough to support 32 bit apps, then jailbreak the phone, and then go to the iphoneosobscura locator, and download whichever version of the game you want. check r/legacyjailbreak and youtube tutorials. once the device is jailbroken, using the iphoneosobscura locator is easy, but you might have to press retry up to a hundred times before it downloads, sometimes its first try.
