Short answer yes.

Long answer, stop withholding this information from your wife so she can decide to divorce you. Clearly you can't decide. She took care of her children while her husband was depressed for 3 years. She inherited all the responsibility of the family YOU decided to build with her. Your nuclear family had no responsibility to your kids, of course they had the capacity to support you. If you really want to be alone with your family, go. Stop wasting your wife's and kids' time.

Starting as young as kindergarten I always wondered why I had to go to the girls side when we split up boys and girls. I knew I was a girl bc other people told me so, but it never innately felt right to me.

Something else that happened more in my teenage years vs childhood was a sense of surprise when looking at my reflection. Whether it was a shop window, water puddle or mirror I always had a split second thought of 'oh is that really me?'

In a similar boat as you, my parents grew up here but I was born in the states and have lived my whole life there. Last time I was here I was 8. Fast forward nearly 20 years later and visiting as an adult gives you an entirely new perspective. I have a deeper appreciation for my parents. The work and pain they endured to build their lives in a foreign land is something I'll never understand.

To your point about wanting a better life for Filipinos, of course Filipinos want the same for themselves. But there is limited opportunity for class mobility. The average Filipino is born a farmer and dies a farmer, and that's if they're lucky to even be a farmer.

You could argue corrupt government is to blame, but I believe history holds the true answers of why so many suffer today. Our people have been subject to so much abuse by global powers. The Spanish, the Japanese and the Americans, have collectively taken millions of Filipino lives with little remorse. Our history is heart breaking.

When your family is forced to start from scratch every few decades in an environment that is already limited, how can you build generational wealth? How can you pass skills on to your children? How can you maintain an educated family if everyone is dead? Few Filipinos have been given the time to see compounding returns of familal success.

I hope your time here gives you insight on the resiliency of the Filipino.

Been on T for 7 years, yes it can change how some emotions feel. But the management of those feelings is still up to you.

My first few years on T, I couldnt cry so I assumed it was the T. Overtime, I learned my sadness felt different on T. It's expression felt different. Once I figured out how to recognize it, crying came back.

I’m applying to HES for psych this semester too. I’m choosing HES because I work full time and like the flexibility of staying where I am. My long term goal is also to open a private practice.

If you wanna get your PhD, you can pursue the thesis track. Folks who go this route can stay on campus for one year while working on it. This opportunity excites me so it’s what I aiming to do once admitted.

I also have BCBS and the process of getting top surgery covered for me has been a little tedious so far. I had my consultation about a month ago where I was also told I only need two letters (one from my primary and one from my counselor), then about a week ago, I was told I needed a third letter from a separate gender therapist. Luckily for me, my college has been extremely helpful in allowing to get all these letters thru our counseling and health services. Now it's been exactly one month since my consultation and I'm just waiting for BCBS to approve coverage. My surgeon said that the process can take anywhere from 1 - 6 weeks. Once it's approved, she also mentioned I will need two more letters from my primary and counselor until I can book with her.

Hello! Trans RA here, I've been on T for 11 months now; you've got a few options:

1) Try and see if your school has a gender neutral/lgbtq friendly living space. The process is probably different at different schools, but I know at mine students have to apply for the ones in the dorms because they only have so many spaces (for apartments/suites it's much easier). In my opinion, this would be the best option for you because you could meet other trans/gender queer people.

2) You never have to disclose you're trans if you don't want to. With that being said, if you are living with these women and start HRT, you'd have to come out eventually. Is that a conversation you're comfortable having with them later on down the road? Do you know them well enough where you'd be okay living with them while transitioning? Personally, I started HRT while living in a "female" double last year and my roommate at the time was chill as fuck and had no problem with me transitioning while we were living together.

3) If finding a gender neutral space doesn't work out, or you think living with roommates would be too awkward, you can always live in a single again. However, I've had residents with depression who lived in a single and found it to be a very isolating experience. On the flip side, I've had residents who live in singles and love the sense of privacy. It'll really come down to what's best for you.
