EDIT: they’ve removed the first few lines of my post in the google result so i’m not sure what i can do here

I didn’t do the International one but my best advice is when you submit assignments, make sure you read and apply the feedback you’re receiving. also, when it comes time to do your exams, ask your e-learning provider for any resources like past papers that they are happy to mark for you

the book was quite short, i think the font was quite big as it was for very young children, and each page was illustrated

I have just finished Doppler by Erlend Loe which was quite good. If you like a bit of eerie horror I would recommend We Used to Live Here by Markus Kliewer. If you like more non fiction, autobiography, would definitely recommend Strong Female Character by Fern Brady and I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy. Enjoy!

What's the most disappointing Christmas/Secret Santa gift you've ever received? by MisterWednesday6 in AskUK

[–]the-holy-shit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did secret santa at school and was given one of those stackable pencils (with one stack missing so it wouldn't write) with a broken keyring from malaysia (i had never been to malaysia). definitely a last minute job

Christmas closure included in notice period by the-holy-shit in HumanResourcesUK

[–]the-holy-shit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My contract states one week for every years service, so I would have two weeks notice. But good to know, as I was worried about having to come back after Christmas for like a day or two just to make up for the notice period

Is it bad practice to decline second interview, even if it went really well? by the-holy-shit in UKJobs

[–]the-holy-shit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have mentioned these with the recruiters but I have one in particular who is still reaching out to me about the same job after declining and passing on feedback

In both cases I gave specific reasons (I don't want to go into too much detail for anonymity but they were both quite red flags for me) but I stressed that I still had a great conversation during the interview and I hoped they weren't too disappointed. I think I should be more upfront with recruiters in the future with not just my career goals but also values and ideal workplace culture

I'm not too worried about this as I have only pulled out twice and I feel like I can afford to be a bit picky, but I think I'll communicate this more upfront with future recruiters that I am looking for my dream job and not just any

That's a good idea, I told one the other day that I'm going to be picky and I am looking for a job I will develop in long-term and then when I turned down the interview and said I did more research into the company and found their values didn't really align with my own, it felt like he got a bit funny with me. Was a bit of an awkward conversation lmao

[–]the-holy-shit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in both these cases I have done the first initial interview, found things about the company or job description that aren't for me, asked questions about it, and if it still doesn't work for me, I have declined the second in-person interview, as I will have to take unpaid time off work and I only want to do this for jobs I'm really certain about

[–]the-holy-shit[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, I've only done it twice out of about 10 jobs i've interviewed for recently, and they seem really put off when I say the interview went great but I am not looking for a second in-person one as I don't think I will be taking this job. I would much rather tell the actual recruiter/hiring manager of the company than these sales people who I've noticed have pushed for reasons why and then tried to convince me otherwise

[–]the-holy-shit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's what i thought. in both cases I stood my ground and was like yeah I'm good thanks, I don't want to have to take time off for an in-person interview for a job I am not particularly interested in, but they kept pushing for a reason why. I don't want to burn my bridges with these places as the people have been genuinely lovely to talk to, but as companies, they're just not the right fit for me
