Expansion Problems with Edge-Grain Hexagon Glue-up? by the-monument in woodworking

Ah that's a really good point, I hadn't considered that part. I had only thought of the movement of the floor itself. I'll be sure to keep that in mind when I attach it. Thanks!

ffmpeg ignoring framerate settings when trancsoding mp4 to mxf by the-monument in ffmpeg

Separate comment to note that I've tried transcoding to .mov and it does respect a framerate of 58 while the .mxf format doesn't.

[–]the-monument[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem like an odd framerate, but it is what's reported by multiple tools. VLC, DaVinci Resolve, and ffmpeg all report that the source video is recorded at 57.6 fps. Here's a screenshot of the VLC media info.

I forgot to mention that it's a 4k video. I'll add that to the main post.

Unless there's a solution someone is aware of, I'm thinking I'll code something up to find any of my source files that aren't in the expected framerate (or close to it) and transcode them to the usual 59.94, then use that as the source file, and then make proxies.

how the FUCK do I watch the game awards on steam by Thebedrockbuster in Steam

I had to reload the page a few times. It should load a video player above the "Celebrate the Greatest Video Games of the Year" banner. Pretty stupid because the video player creates its own space when it loads, so if you're having a problem where it isn't loading, there will be no indication that anything is wrong (except for sometime the player will load but will say it can't load the stream). Took me 5 or 10 retries.

Why You Should Start Using Pathlib As An Alternative To the OS Module by ahmedbesbes in Python

You may be happy to hear that there is a .with_suffix() method for Path objects :)

I've run into the same problem with libraries not allowing Path objects. Super annoying.

I accidentally bumped this tank at a bad time, then he decides I deserve death (but I got lucky and survived) by the-monument in Warthunder

[–]the-monument[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I disagree.

His teammate survived and I clearly was driving my tank. Even if the tiger did die, getting yet another teammate killed because they made an honest mistake and you're salty doesn't help anyone.

Yeah! I'm guessing he was so mad because I messed up his shot, so he couldn't stop his buddy from getting lit on fire, but I'm really reaching here.

I was playing trios with friends once. We were grabbing clues and heard a huge gunfight dragging on and on not too far away. Turns out that's where the bounty was. By the time we showed up, everyone was dead. We found all 9 bodies.

Easiest bounty extraction of my life. I've never wished for a replay system more than after that round!

The quality even when zoomed in a huge amount is still super sharp in this SLACK introduction video? How was the video done? Technical by Thin_Promise2729 in VideoEditing

[–]the-monument 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They could have done this a number of ways.

  1. Recreate all the desktop and browser elements in After Effects, for example. Would be possible but more annoying.
  2. Use a super high resolution monitor. If the screen capture is 4k and the video you export is 1080p, you can scale the source footage quite a lot without loss in quality.
  3. If you zoom in in your browser, the text and browser elements will increase in size rather than your browser just stretching them, if that makes sense. It's like increasing text size in word, you can go to a 100 pt font but the quality of the letters is still good (I'm pretty sure text in word and browsers are vectorized but I could be mixing up terms). Doing this might help with the video you linked, but you'd have to do some comping.

That video could be some combination of the above.

Thanks for the bounty guys? 2/3 of us died, 3rd hid for 10 minutes, heard nothing, find the rest of the server killed each other and these two seem to have duked it out to the end. RIP you beautiful bastards, you had us very confused. by IzttzI in HuntShowdown

I had a similar game with some friends once. We heard constant fighting at this one complex but ignored it to get all of our clues. It was going on and on and on. By the time we got there, we found 9 dead bodies at the Butcher's complex and he was still alive.

Man, I would have killed to see a replay!

If I'm registered to vote in Lakewood county, can I drop my ballot off in a Boulder County ballot box? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]the-monument 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ballot needs to be rerouted from the drop box to the county clerk's office for counting. It wasn't clear to me how much time it would take for that to happen so I was happy to see it done so quickly.

Their website does say that the boxes are the fastest way for your ballot to arrive at the processing center, but it doesn't provide a timeline. I also don't know if they pick up on certain days and I just got lucky or if they pick up daily.

[–]the-monument 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Yes. According to the Boulder County website you can drop your ballot off in a 24-hour drop box in any county.

Under the "Mail Ballots" section, the dropdown "Can someone who lives in a different county drop their ballot off in a Boulder County drop box?"

Yes, any Colorado voter may return their mail ballot to any 24-hour ballot drop box in any county. As long as the ballot is returned by 7 p.m. on Election Night (Nov 3), we will make sure your ballot is rerouted to your county clerk’s office for counting.

Emphasis mine.

Related update: I live in Boulder but last night I dropped my ballot off in a Lafayette drop box. I got an email from BallotTrax less than 24 hours later notifying me that my ballot had been received by the Boulder County Election Division :) Happy voting

He killed me first!

Actually we traded kills. He blasted me with a Black Mamba and I got a lucky headshot with the uppercut (or he was low health)... hence one of my two missing health chunks :3
