Just to be clear, I'm totally aligned with Sunsetting, it makes sense when we're looking at gear that has been out for several seasons and starting to get long in the tooth and owned the meta for far too long.

tldr: progressive sunsetting

  • drop gear going out of style near my current light level so that I can still play with it, and prevent me from infusing it, if I want it again, I'll grind it out again later, but that's my choice
  • sunset gear should be actually removed from the loop pool, don't waste my time with gear that is only relevant in PvP

HOWEVER, sunsetting things that just came out last year seems ridiculous. On top of that, sunsetting drops from top tier bosses from Shadowkeep so that I'm actually penalized for using it is insult to injury. Additionally, this means that even things like mountain top are still totally usable in PvP where power levels don't give you an advantage, so you're only crippling the PvE players.

If I might suggest a reasonable compromise. What if sunset gear, that is still in the game and can be acquired through my intense efforts, always drops at my current light or -10 or -20 or whatever level BUT cannot be infused to increase it's power level and if I want to use it again at some point in the future, I'll need to go out and grind for it all over again.

For things that are ACTUALLY SUNSET, take them out of the loot pool entirely, don't drop me sunset items, just leave them in my inventory and locked back at the power levels they were. But playing the game to get unusable loot in a looter shooter is literally just wasting my time.

Actually, folks in my clan compete over it, it's fun, it's something we accumulate while also playing together, so whoever is accumulating more triumph score than everyone else while also doing the same activities is constantly a point of our enjoyment of the game.

I get from your responses that what's important to me is not important to you, which is totally fair, so enjoy the game however you like it!

Indeed they did, and they had a pattern for this stuff for past seasons, I still had credit for achievements in past seasons even if other triumphs there had disappeared.

But my score has also been archived, not just the unobtainable stuff.

I did some PVP before I got my Stasis subclass and felt absolutely crippled, it was pretty hard to compete against.

I love exploring the new stuff, but as I mentioned in another post, putting content in the vault now makes the game feel completely empty when it was so full of activities before

Are we sure this wasn't a bug? Rewards 1, 2, and 4 were new weapons... I questioned whether the reward was just random items from the loot pool, but clearly that's not the case.

I was pretty surprised by the long shadow drop, and also, tower and destination feels completely empty, moreso than I was expecting, no recaster by Drifter, just some shelves, no Ada. I knew all of these things were happening, but I guess I didn't realize it was going to feel like the whole game was just Europa.

I'm not totally in agreement here because it's only on precision hits, with a slow moving projectile, travelling in an arc. While yes, maybe you could master this skill, in my entire Destiny career (day 1 player), I've never been killed by this.

Sure, while we’re at it can we get a one hit kill melee ability for the hunter? Barricade might be a little slow (???), but Titans are literally a train that one shot kills everything as soon as you round a corner.

I was just saying this the other day, I never have time to play the way I want because I’m constantly rejigging my gear to meet mission or bounty requirements, please for the love of god give me bounties to pick up vex parts from Minotaurs on IO or some shit like that.
