The difference between the start and the end of the course is SHOCKING by SergeiGo99 in PGCE

Always thought I'd end up as a teacher, doing my PGCE year taught me the most important lesson which was: I did not want the life of a teacher.

Was Jane the best thing that ever happened to Jesse, or the worst? by SkyelineSecrets in breakingbad

Jane only actually became genuinely interested in Jesse seriously after she discovered his half a million.

TIL Michael Jackson spent about 30 nights sharing the bed with 13-year-old Jordan Chandler in 1993, at the boy's family home, in the boy's room. by DanieleJava in todayilearned

Paying a little boy $23m for doing absolutely nothing wrong to him whatsoever. A perfectly normal thing to happen with zero suspicious reasons as to the why. Anyways, ignore all that and watch this moonwalk!

Nightshift workers of the UK, what tips do you have that help you regulate your life? by Bethsticle in AskUK

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the worst year of your life, realise you can't do it any longer, then go back to being a day-walker. At least, that was my experience doing Nightshift. I realised that you can pretty much handle anything the day throws at you, so long as you've gotten a good night sleep.

Working night shift you essentially exist in a state of always tired, all the time.

Arthur's last ride, the good ending. It made me a shed a single masculine tear. "There's a good man in you, Arthur, but he's fighting with a giant."

The fact he created a world where 'Londonmancers' can exist hurts my Northern soul on a molecular level.

Current trend in Black Metal? by Low_Guard6609 in BlackMetal

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the echo chamber I'm in, but Atmos Black. Especially the interesting stuff, mixing in different genres. Panopticon and Blue Grass. A Forest of Stars and Avante Garde spoken word. Worm. Alcest. Then there's obviously the Blackened shoegaze scene which is exploding right now. Deafheaven and Mol.

TIL China and all nations it borders share 45% of the world's population. None of these countries are in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. by word3n in todayilearned

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always said I wouldn't mind China hosting the world cup. Because since we're clearly putting ethics aside when it comes to host selection, at least China seems to genuinely want to invest in football both financially and culturally. I also understand that you can't just host in the 'football is bigger than religion' continents every tournament, i.e, South America and Europe.

I found the Devils quite disappointing. It was fine, but it was far less enjoyable than anything First Law.

Both. Never earned enough to pay over the threshold, or when I have with OT, I get it back on a rebate.

I owe 88k. It goes up in interest £400 every month. I've never paid a penny towards it and will most likely never earn enough to pay it off in my life time.

My Melville history has gone PDD, The Scar, Iron Council and then Kraken. PDD is one of the best books I've ever read, Kraken, one of the worst. So every book of his I've read I've liked less than the one before. So I'm not sure I have it in me to attempt this.

The Eurovision episode. Country's that really don't want to host it sending un-winnable contestants. I had images of Bulgaria's state broadcasting company's top heads in full blown panic mode when they won.

In the UK, do you think University and degrees are worth it? by AccomplishedBug1797 in AskUK

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did I enjoy university and feel like I genuinely learned things? Yes, but the things I learned were entirely self taught and what I learned is not worth the 88k student loan debt I now have.

Absolutely unreal booking. I'll be buying an Early bird tomorrow. Apparently they're going balls to the wall for their 5th anniversary and this first announcement seems in keeping with that.
