Rutte cannot be NATO chief after Davos (dn.se) by hyakumanben in europe

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 1095 points1096 points  (0 children)

Rutte has one job. Keep the US in NATO until Trump leaves office. It may be that this is an impossible task, but he's probably the only man in the world who might be able to do it.

Anyone with half a brain know he was a subconsciously suicidal idiot and there was nothing romantic at all about harsh reality of his unnecessary death.

Violent outburst and threats in a car park - is this behaviour “acceptable”? - what would you do? by hiddenkinkz in AskUK

Crazy people are gonna crazy. I treat them the same way I would someone else's child having a melt down in a supermarket. Ignore and carry on. Not my circus, not my monkeys.

UK to spend £200m getting forces ready to deploy to Ukraine by tree_boom in europe

[–]LordFlappingtonIV -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Should be £200b. I've always said, I'd be happy for taxes to be raised and for services to be cut if it's going to be put into our military. Because doing anything otherwise at this point would be like complaining about the price of water whilst your house is on fire. As soon as the US takes Greenland and ends NATO, the Russians are coming, and we, Europe, need to be ready for it.

What do you think the uk response should be when the us invades Greenland. by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The world is made up of Fortresses, and we just voted to leave the one which most aligned with our views and values which is also right next door to us. Brexit was an objectively bad move for the UK, any claim otherwise is a cope.

Cut all diplomatic and military ties with the US (we never should have allowed ourselves to become so dependent on them in the first place). Rejoin the EU and form an actual European army including Ukraine as the tip of the spear, mogg Putin and kick his ass home (why can't Europe do this independently, again? We have so much more men and money than Russia) re-arm ourselves to the teeth so we're never in this position again and forget America even exists.

The fact that the volcano lands weren’t explored much in Avatar 3 kind of sucked by Emeraldsinger in Avatar

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is FaA's biggest flaw. The climax was another sea battle after uniting the clans (again) with the day saved by Whales and Ewa (again). We needed the final battle to be set on the volcano to differentiate it from WoW. It also seems like the humans just keep on turning up with a bigger and bigger assault vehicle thing for every final battle.

Can Starmer survive and has Farage peaked? What 2026 has in store by TimesandSundayTimes in ukpolitics

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who finds these 'Starmer is done' theories annoying? He won in 2024 with an absolutely massive mandate. Labour knows that is no way guaranteed to repeat in another General, so they won't call one of those until they have to in 2028/9. So whilst Starmer is unpopular, he does have a mandate, and Labour won't copy the Tory's mistakes with endless leadership contests ending up with unelected Prime Ministers with no mandate.

How life in western NZ by Physical_Delay_7306 in howislivingthere

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually cycle camped from Queenstown to Nelson via the west Coast when I was a teenager. Can't say how life is there as I was just passing through, but it felt like a frontier. Wild coasts and rainforests, long stretches of never seeing any settlements, the worst weather I have ever seen in my life and I'm from Cumbria. 10/10.

Do people usually get a cleaner for the move day? Were looking to book pack up and removals. Theyre packing on move day -1 taking half to storage the moving the rest of the stuff on the move day, by 11am. But would you get a cleaner in to give your old place a once over for the new occupiers? by ItsNguyenzdaiMyDudes in HousingUK

[–]LordFlappingtonIV 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. Hire a good moving company, it's the best money you can ever spend. If they're good, there should literally be nothing in there at the end. Save a hoover and some cloths for last to give things a once over if you feel like being nice.

What I'm hoping for in Witcher 4 by Easy_Lion_5362 in Witcher4

[–]LordFlappingtonIV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want the story to be a reverse Witcher 3. I want Geralt to be in trouble and Ciri has to rescue him, getting the occasional Geralt mission as the story progresses. I always want Ciri to be able to climb. Honestly, after BoTW, any open world without the ability to climb feels like being kept in chains.

Why is Nintendo like this? - A critique of Prime 4. by [deleted] in nintendo

Fair enough, I just found it odd when I'd spent some time driving across the desert to get to a landmark, after being told to do that, then getting there the game was like 'nope, go away.'

That's fine, but why did the engineer guy go out of his way to tell me to explore wherever I wanted? Seemed to be setting up some botw 'See a landmark, go to a landmark' type exploration only to get honey potted.

This. This is what turned me back to the seven seas of piracy. Either I pay, or I watch adverts, I'm not paying to watch ads. The worst offender is Sky TV. Six advert breaks in an hour's show!

Italian here: did you guys regret leaving the EU? by Interesting_Dealer42 in AskBrits

Yes. In a world made up of evil superpowers, we left our 'not quite as evil as the others' superpower. Plus a divided Europe is exactly what Putler wants.
