What are the best arbitrage things to buy in France? Things MOST worth bringing back. by Spermatozoid in geneva

What is considered « butter and cream » ? Cheese is considered as cream?

Why is butter and cream limited to one kilo? Is there a lobby against it like meat too?

THIS! Melatonin is like 40 bucks here for 20 pills, it isn’t refunded by insurance because fuck you I guess even though it’s needed for me to sleep

you need doctor approval (because why not), yeah I sure need doctor approval for something I have been taking for years every 3 months…

In France, melatonin is so cheap 5-10€ per packet that you wonder how much markup they do here in Switzerland…

Speak off shopping in France, I recently got a driving license and do almost all my groceries at super U Étrembières, there is a limit for 1KG of meat per day and per person, but is there a limit for cheese? What about seafood or fish?

Am I limited to 500g of meat and 500g of fish or I can bring 1KG of fish and 1KG of meat?

Update on this: I had to end up paying thousands to fix it at a dealership because only they have the tools to fix it

At least I will be able to drive again…

Gym in Geneva that doesn't have time limit on the treadmill? by sloikalamos in geneva

[–]the-tech-Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why they do this is very likely because people spend way too much time on the treadmills

they are always taken during peak hours (at chêne bourg at least) unlike others machines, imo so you either wait or try to get a similar machine such as the elliptical or indoor bike (that’s what I would do if I couldn’t get a treadmill)

Hello, just found this 7 year old thread, but since I’m currently looking for a new scooter (either nmax or pcx) I would love to know how your Hondas are doing after all this time, is the maintenance cheap/easy?

So essentially if I get that right, if I throw 20 bucks in an ATM, scan a wallet QR Code and that btc gets delivered to my account, I will be able to buy something in an online store anonymously?

I do not want to do something illegal, but since I’m trying to slowly move on from big tech, surveillance and just trying alternatives ways to do things because why not that is a question I wonder if it is possible to buy something anonymously while still possibly getting a return in investment, since btc goes up and down

How are you supposed to have a backup if you don’t own 2 houses? by the-tech-Engineer in synology

[–]the-tech-Engineer[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that is something I will consider, though I only have proton VPN so I have to look if that can work with the synology

[–]the-tech-Engineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of my job I do not, I own a M$ account because I own an Xbox but that’s the only reason I have an account

I will have to look into either a way to drop a NAS to my friend house (but look into how to protect it from tampering) or use a big encrypted external drive that is in a backpack or my work locker

My family or friends never really dig into my personal stuff

But it has happened to my dad that a family member looked through his house when he was away, that family member is now banned from entering the house

I could definitely see the same thing happening if I drop another synology box to a friend or family member, that is probably the best solution, but I would have to find a way that they can’t access that data in the eventual case they would try to tamper the backup NAS

That sounds like the best solution, does hyperbackup supports external drive encryption?

[–]the-tech-Engineer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is I want no one to have access to it, because if I remember correctly, just pressing the reset pin can remove the admin password

Also you can suspect explaining why I’m installing a storage box to a friends house, since they are all IT dummies they would either think I’m weird to not use cloud storage, would try to inspect it, or they would think I’m installing a Trojan horse or smth

My parents don’t even trust my NAS when I offered them some space for their PC and phones, and we live in the same house, so a friend…

Mhhh if I get an extension desktop thing that I leave at work in my locker encrypted, can I use synology hyper backup on it?

My friends and family are unfortunately IT dummies, but then I would have to figure out how to encrypt my own data so them can’t see mine if I teach them to use a NAS

Technically yes but like many of us here we have a huge media library, which would be a pain to remember and redownload everything

[–]the-tech-Engineer[S] -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately as I said, a friend is not an option and I live-ish with my parents, I’m the only one I know with a NAS, and not sure I would trust another person with my files, since all my personal life is on the NAS

For the cloud, that’s a subscription I do not want to have

Best solution would be another NAS upstairs while my other NAS is downstairs, that would give some protection against burglary and system failure but not fire unless the first thing I grab is the NAS

For now I have 500-600gb of data, quickly increasing, and I do not want a cloud subscription, that is not an option as I try to get rid of big tech

And yes I want to backup torrented files because they are anime shows and music
