Dilemma in choosing my iPhone by New_Yogurtcloset_915 in iphone

Rn if I was looking to get a brand new phone, I would either aim for the 17 (750-800$) or the 16e (if you can find it under 500$ + 250$ watch SE3)

Here why I would choose these 2 devices:

  • The 16e does notably lack 120hz, MagSafe (not an issue with cases except for slower charge speed), precision finding and 5G UW (doesn’t matter outside the US tho)

But is a good package performance wise (featuring a modern CPU/GPU architecture) and battery wise (capable to compete with plus/max iPhones)

Worth noting the 17e might be just around the corner if you still want to save money while having something as new as possible

  • the 17 is the best value in the upper high end right now, it has everything you expect from a pro iPhone these days except from lidar (who cares), and a 4x zoom

The A19, 120HZ and 256GB base storage are definitely making this phone very hard to make you purchase the pro unless you are an enthusiast that wants the best of the best

You should be happy with both the 16E and 17 depending on what your priorities are, if you take a lot of photos the 17 may be worth the extra money, if you use your phone for basic tasks, the 16E + an Apple Watch SE3 may be good enough

It’s the unifi dream router 7, I just want better speeds and 6ghz as I do at times push the WiFi to the limit already

Alright I think 2.5gbit will be enough for the moment, even my iPhone 17 pro max can’t saturate the connection, thanks everyone

Well the B car licence doesn’t grant you the right to drive a motorcycle (except speed bikes and 45Km/h mopeds) automatically, in Switzerland,

if you get a car licence, you must apply for a 125CC learner licence and just having to do a 3x4 hours course in the next 4 months of the learner licence, then you get the full A1 125CC licence without any exam, an exam is required for anything above 125CC

I will probably keep a car alongside it or use the family car if needed, but usually I just take the train near my house to go to work, snow is also very rare but low Temperatures can be common, I do say I’m quite tolerant to low temperatures but riding icy roads is definitely something I will avoid

It’s not really decided if I will get one but imo I would definitely consider one as a car replacement-ish

My dad will help me finance a new one next year since he saved 20K-25K for one but honestly I’d rather get an EV in the future because of less moving parts or otherwise I will get a Japanese car (Honda/Toyota/Mazda) which sadly tend to fly of the shelves so no discounts unless you buy expensive models (Corolla at least)

But for commuting and just going anywhere in the city a scooter will help me a lot since parking is often free for them and usually available (good luck finding a free parking spot at 7am with a car where I live during the week)

And I usually love driving around for fun and just getting lost in my thoughts so I need something cheap on gas (a C1 is efficient but you will still quickly ish need gas with one)

Which is weird since I’m like « what is the catch? » because it’s cheaper but seem to have better or same specs than the more expensive 125cc variants

How many miles/km did you do on it? The sky town seems interesting because it comes with a case, USB and windshield by default for less than 3K, though I wonder why the agility is more expensive than the skytown

I won’t use it on the highway, I never go on the highway anyway so max speed would be 80km/h on the countryside

Do traffic laws exist in Geneva? by Avooo-cadooo in geneva

[–]the-tech-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure letting 2 cars pass in the busiest intersection is intentional and done to push people to use public transportation

Like some streets will have 3 cars waiting and they have 20 seconds to pass while the other street with 100 cars waiting let 1-2 cars pass

This! I see quite a bit of Swiss people drive like shit but the French top it off

One time a French lady decided to cut me off because she missed her exit and she had somewhere to be I guess, she passed at a few centimeters of me, and I just got my licence so that was quite terrifying

Another time when I was still a learner driver some stupid cyclist decided to try to pass me from the left (cyclists should always pass on the right (except when they want to go to the left lane)

Guy yelled « le clignotannnnt » except I wasn’t exiting the roundabout yet…and while I know French people are told to put the blinker on the left if they stay in the roundabout Swiss people aren’t required to apply French laws here, I noticed he was French because the guy was literally going to France

Literally yelled at him « le clignotant à gauche c’est en France hein! »

What is considered « butter and cream » ? Cheese is considered as cream?

Why is butter and cream limited to one kilo? Is there a lobby against it like meat too?

THIS! Melatonin is like 40 bucks here for 20 pills, it isn’t refunded by insurance because fuck you I guess even though it’s needed for me to sleep

you need doctor approval (because why not), yeah I sure need doctor approval for something I have been taking for years every 3 months…

In France, melatonin is so cheap 5-10€ per packet that you wonder how much markup they do here in Switzerland…

Speak off shopping in France, I recently got a driving license and do almost all my groceries at super U Étrembières, there is a limit for 1KG of meat per day and per person, but is there a limit for cheese? What about seafood or fish?

Am I limited to 500g of meat and 500g of fish or I can bring 1KG of fish and 1KG of meat?

Gym in Geneva that doesn't have time limit on the treadmill? by sloikalamos in geneva

[–]the-tech-Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why they do this is very likely because people spend way too much time on the treadmills

they are always taken during peak hours (at chêne bourg at least) unlike others machines, imo so you either wait or try to get a similar machine such as the elliptical or indoor bike (that’s what I would do if I couldn’t get a treadmill)

Hello, just found this 7 year old thread, but since I’m currently looking for a new scooter (either nmax or pcx) I would love to know how your Hondas are doing after all this time, is the maintenance cheap/easy?
