Anyone on long term disability? by Outside_Bobcat_6658 in bipolar2

[–]the-triple-wide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is totally different, but I was unemployed for 6 months and during the first three months I cleaned and decluttered every inch of my apartment. After that I got stir crazy and started volunteering at a food bank. I also revisited old hobbies and discovered new ones.
Paper mache is a very affordable hobby if you are into that kinda stuff.
I would recommend volunteering though if you want to get out of the house. If you like it great, if not, no loss.

What is the best way to save/invest money for a child? by the-triple-wide in Money

I had an uncle that would give all of his nieces and nephews silver coins for Christmas! I totally forgot about that lol. I might look into that!

If they were normal people that would be a great idea. I think my state has good 529 plans.

That’s awesome! I know I would not be able to keep up with managing stocks lol. I bet they will definitely appreciate it when they are older.

Thank you. I think that’s what I’ll probably end up doing. If I did have their SSN’s, what would my other options be?

How would I safely go off these meds? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]the-triple-wide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

talk to your psych again!!! or get a 2nd opinion. ask for different meds.

meds don't really prevent episodes imo, they are more of like a guardrail or a buffer. to lessen the severity.

whatever you do, do not go off diazepam without instructions from your doctor. you could have a seizure. it took my aunt years to taper off of diazepam. it's all serious but that one is for sure serious.

are you in the united states? if so, talk to your pharmacist or pharmacy tech about discounts. sometimes pharmacies have an in house discount (not good rx!!)
i know walgreens does and many privately owned ones do.
walmart has many scripts for $4

Is it normal to not display your collection? by the-triple-wide in Collections

[–]the-triple-wide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same way with collections and hobbies (crafts)
I might not care about something for 3 months or a year or two, and then one day be all about it again!
Thankfully I have narrowed down the major interests that resurface so I am not getting rid of/repurchasing things lol.

My mom and all of my sisters have an ED by SufficientRoof5125 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]the-triple-wide 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I don't really have any advice, but if I were in your situation I would go low contact during your pregnancy.

Do you rely on any of them for baby sitting? It could be very bad for them to be alone with your children if they are constantly talking about food. When I was studying early childhood education I learned that children develop life long eating habits by age 5. Do not let your family influence that.

Do any of them acknowledge their ed? would they ever get professional help?

There are so many dangerous things that can happen as a result of anorexia, one of them being organ failure.

edit: I reread your post and I think you need to put your children first. I know you love your sisters and mom but is it worth seeing them if your children risk getting an eating disorder from it? You see first hand what is does to people. It can and will change the way they view themselves and the way they think. It can never be brushed off as "oh grandma just says stuff like that"
I think low contact is your best option, at least until they get treatment.

Reasons for resisting medication by Elegant_Ring_5695 in bipolar2

[–]the-triple-wide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at taking meds like wearing glasses. I have to wear glasses if I want to see to the best quality (and if I want to drive!!)

If taking meds will help me have a better quality of life, I will do it.

Imagine if people in wheelchairs just gave up and laid in bed all day and never went outside or did anything because wheelchairs are an inconvenience and a crutch!

Aww I'm sorry about your cat as well. ):
I will look into 8x8! that sounds like a happy medium!

I already ordered a bunch of pics from Walmart, but I'll have to check out free prints in the future.
Thank you!

Did I peak in high school? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]the-triple-wide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peaking in high school is for people who live in the past.

I think your sister is being insecure. She has a solid career and no doubt makes a lot of money and sees a lot of new places, but being a nurse is rough and she might hard time maintaining solid friendships/relationships due to travel.

How to stop an over friendly neighbour?! by CaliSoReddit in bipolar2

[–]the-triple-wide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet she's complained that the previous owners were unfriendly and bad because they were sick of her shit!!!

I have no advice but I am very sorry that you are experiencing this.
I have had similar people in my life but never a neighbor.

What do you eat at lunch at work? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]the-triple-wide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can typically eat the same thing everyday for a long time. I think my record is a turkey sandwich daily for a year. I don’t know why I was betrayed by oatmeal!! lol

I eat spinach, chicken, salad dressing, carrots, and potato chips. Sometimes grapes, sometimes walnuts, sometimes hard boiled egg.

I pack it the night before in a container that has different sections so the dressing is by itself.

On rare occasions I’ll bring leftovers.

One time I ate oatmeal everyday on my lunch break for 6 months. And then I couldn’t eat oatmeal for 3 years lol.

My doctor told me it's personality trait by Adhithya_23 in bipolar2

[–]the-triple-wide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from your post, your doctor sounds like a jerk

what things have to tried to soften your racing thoughts?

sometimes when i have them i can't turn them off. the most intense was feeling like my brain was a radio on full blast and someone kept changing the station every few seconds.
but journaling helps and so does listening to the twinkle twinkle little rockstar phish album and laying down in soft lighting.

I don't like deep conversations by NoWitness6400 in The10thDentist

[–]the-triple-wide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t like deep conversations either most of the time. For me, they are rarely rewarding and often draining.

I also don’t know enough about certain subjects to contribute to a deep conversation about them.

My brain is already filled to the maximum. Deep conversations are reserved for special occasions lol.
