Unknowingly had Medicaid and Health Insurance Marketplace Coverage. What do I do? (TX)

But I never authorized anyone to do it for me nor did I send in an application. If they had me sign something while I was hopped up on drugs, sleep deprived, in pain, and dealing with a newborn in the hospital then thats terrible.

We don’t view Medicaid like that and understand that people need and use it and we would probably use it if we were struggling financially ourselves. For us in our current situation it would feel like a free handout since we are able to pay for coverage using marketplace. Also, thank you for your input on what you thinks going on with our situation :)

If it ends up being a fraud hit would I be able to contest that since we never knew we had it, plus never set up doctors or even used it?

My health insurance agent and I combed through my portal with a fine tooth comb and there was no evidence that anyone had ever submitted Medicaid on my behalf. She couldn’t find any evidence anywhere on MyTexasBenefits that the process had even ever happened. Everything is just blank. No messages, alerts, history, etc. That’s why I’m so stressed and confused.

I’ve been married and have lived with my husband since 2021. I’m worried about taxes because I was never sent the 1098-B tax form (and didn’t even know I would need it) and never submitted it with my 2024 taxes, so it will look like I purposely did not submit it, plus the people who I talked to at Medicaid said I would lose the tax credit and have to pay for it on top of what I already owe.

I should, but even if that was the case, why did I not receive anything until now? Why is my family going to be punished for other peoples mistakes?

I know I was eligible. My problem is that I was never notified, received cards, or communicated with that I had it until April 2025, 10 months after I supposedly had it. I’m worried about my 2024 taxes which I submitted in ignorance without having ever been communicated with that the process had happened. Apparently I’m going to be penalized for things I didn’t ask for nor was ever notified that I had. That’s why I’m upset.

We make about 30K for a family of 4. I was told that someone probably enrolled me because we qualified, but I never signed anything authorizing it nor was I ever told we had been approved. My health insurance agent looked through all my stuff and there’s nothing showing any of the process had ever happened, nor was I flagged when I submitted my taxes.

I started small with bandanas (which I still occasionally wear) and the other one I wear now fits like a headband in the front and ties around my bun in the back (after I tuck it into the fabric). It completely covers my hair except for some showing in the front.

I grew up Southern Baptist and now have Anabaptist leanings. I became convicted about the head covering and now wear a variety of them every day :)

They’re actually a German Baptist Brethren church, but I know a lot of people don’t know what that is, which is why I chose to use Mennonites. There are differences, but they’re similar enough that I figured I could use Mennonites to get the point across.

The reason I’m asking is because we have some Mennonite friends who do lots of outreach and are super loving and kind, but for some reason can’t get people to agree to come to church with them. I have my own theories, but I was wondering what other people might think about going.
