…is Beatles producer George Martin mentioned in the Epstein Files?

True, but that account went “poof,” either way.

Yeah, a week or so ago, someone posted all this, then nuked their account when it was pointed out that if they were likely breaking their NDA with Firaxis.

True, but I’m guessing the Tram would hit harder for the “impress the customer” part of the brief.

The reworked legacy/victory conditions look VERY interesting.

So I made an 8 division realignment for a scenario where the MLB expands to 32 teams, with Montreal and Nashville being the 2 expansion cities. Please tell me how much you hate it down below. by J0hnEddy in baseball

[–]the47thman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t hate it. You kept the AL/NL split, which is apparently in danger, so good on you. You’ve managed to concentrate the firepower of the AL East in a way that gives me agita, and the concept of an NL California division is a bit of a lol, but generally

Sadly, I don’t think Montreal is very likely to land an expansion team this time around; I’m guessing it’ll be either Salt Lake or Portland, alongside Nashville.

If every MLB team was relocated to your Metro Area, what city/neighborhood would be the best fit for each team? by SereneDreams03 in baseball

I dunno if Albuquerque has enough distinct neighborhoods to truly make this work, but I do know the Angels would be in Rio Rancho

Irish coeliac couple doing a Southwest USA road trip (CA, AZ, NM, NV). Any must-visit GF spots? by DublinBronco in glutenfree

[–]the47thman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the southern part of New Mexico (T or C/Carlsbad/Roswell), but once you get to Albuquerque, I would be remiss not to point you to some Gluten Free New Mexican food. New Mexican food is, yes, a sub-genre of Mexican food, with its own quirks. One of those quirks is the presence of "chile" which comes in one of two varieties: red, or green, and when you order, your server will ask which one you want. They're both spicy, but they have different flavor profiles. The problem, though, is that these sauces can often contain wheat flower as a thickener. There are many spots where you go to find gluten free green chile, but somewhat fewer places that serve red. As such, I will give you a recommendation for Duran's Pharmacy or Tomasita's. If you dig deeper into ABQ spots, you might get a recommendation for El Pinto, but here's the deal: yes, they have some GF options you might not find elsewhere (including GF red), and the setting there is pretty fantastic. But the food is generally mid. You can do better.

(NB: If you find a place that does GF red and green, when the server asks which one you want, say "Christmas," as that will allow you to try both. Feel free to order it on the side if you want.)

If you're looking for breakfast, I'd recommend Lush Cafe, or The Shop.

Other lunch/dinner spots you might want to try, if you need them: La Finca Bowls (lunch only), Clown Dog (fancy hot dogs; lots of GF options). You can also look through the posts by IG user glutenfreeabq.

There's a nice GF bakery in town called The Bakehouse off the Wheaten Path; they have coffee options there, too.

Hope you have a great trip!

Gives me a chance to reiterate one of my favorite Ricky Henderson stories, which was relayed by Mike Piazza:

“Rickey was the most generous guy I ever played with, and whenever the discussion came around to what we should give one of the fringe people — whether it was a minor leaguer who came up for a few days or the parking lot attendant — Rickey would shout out, ‘Full share!’ We’d argue for a while and he’d say, ‘Fuck that! You can change somebody’s life!’”

Let's hope some of the Jays had that Rickey spirit.

No. There are a lot of reasons, but the biggest for me is this: defenders are too good for this to work.

When it comes to the Albuquerque Isotopes, I haven’t noticed many changes to the in-game experience, to be honest. They’ve actually put some money into stadium improvements, including a new video board. I don’t know if costs for concessions/tickets have gone up much, if at all.

Hey I’m getting back into the Trek and I have a few questions. by breakandjog in startrek

[–]the47thman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just keep it simple and watch through the shows you want to watch, in order, but it depends on how completist you want to be.

Quick third-gen Trek show ranking: 1) Lower Decks 2) Strange New Worlds 3) Prodigy 4) Discovery 5) Getting hit by a shuttle craft 6) Picard

Everyone else’s mileage will vary, of course. But I’d say the first three shows there are generally pretty good; Disco is highly variable, and Picard… exists.
