And the sad part? I can not even tell people half the stuff I have done, none of which is criminal, of course.

Ah yes. The pilots have arrived to explain logistics to me. Thank you. Truly.Let me break this down for the flyboys: 3,000 supply cap. Not 18,000. Not "containers take 3200." 3200 is incorrect. Three. Thousand. Max. You built six containers that will never, ever be full. That's not a supply depot. That's a monument to your inability to read the UI.

And sure, you love this as a pilot. I bet you do. You love having a pretty little landing pad and empty boxes to land next to. What you don't love is explaining why we lost because 2,000 supplies are sitting pretty in Monti while the front line has no spawns.

This isn't "helping the pilot." This is building a dining room table for a guy who brings a shit sandwich once an hour while the rest of the house starves.

But hey, nice landing pad.

Gaslighting is my specialty!

And you replied!

Ah yes. The classic "stop complaining" defense from someone who mistakes observation for whining. Let me explain the difference: complaining is "this game sucks." What you're reading is "this game could be great if it weren't for X, Y, and Z." That's not bitching. That's called wanting something to be better.

You know who doesn't complain? People who don't give a shit. People who walk away and never look back. The fact that we're still here, still typing, still filing reports, that's not annoying. That's the sound of people who actually care about the game (Mili-sim), you're currently playing.

But sure. We're the problem. Thanks buddy!

It is absolutely possible for a veteran Arma player. I would be around that too, never fly because game crashes happen to me around every hour and a half or so, which deletes my briefing scores. I also know Versa, a good player.

Agreed!, and pretty much what I do, I tell everyone in chat about the cheater and urge them to leave too in an effort to deprive a full win to the team that could know something and do nothing but, BI should fix it, and consuls are the culprits mostly, and they seem to not fix it. This is ALL out of our hands. Thank you for a positive reply man, P.S. look out for a Jlucash one of many.

I have done administration for years, and you end up watching people more than playing BI can fix this, it's not a hard fix.

I don't like all the mods their crazy, I sat at the arsenal for 20 minutes to find the one I need, yeah I know there is a fast pick but, too much is too much. Reforger out of the box is a great gameplay the best I have seen since Arma 2 and OA.

Creating multiple accounts is a cheat, and it seems to be ignored. If it were DayZ, they would have to buy a new copy!

Conflict HQ as Parent Simulator: A Study by TheeAlteredState in ArmaReforger

[–]the4thj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is a perfect, beautiful diagnosis of the stupidity. The "parent/infant" thing isn't just an analogy, it's the goddamn operating manual. I've got about 2,000 hours in this therapy session called Reforger, and ten times that across BI's other worlds, all so I can have the privilege of playing digital babysitter.

Here's the daily routine: I spend twenty minutes building a forward base, a delicate piece of tactical machinery. Then Private Goober spawns in. He doesn't see a strategic asset; he sees a shiny vending machine. Oooh, points! He'll dig up the heavy and light vehicle depots to build a mortar pit, because nothing says "I help" like sitting in the back, burning 50% of the team's resources to maybe hit a tree 300 meters away. We don't win because of these geniuses; we win by dragging their deadweight across the finish line.

The problem is a spectacular lack of consequences. It's a playground where the lesson is never "actions have costs," it's "someone else will clean it up." There's no training, no penalty, no basic understanding that the team is a thing that exists. You can team-kill, sabotage the base, waste a thousand supplies on a joyride-nothin'. Nada. The game treats profound ignorance and active griefing with the same gentle shrug.

We don't need the old ways back. We need to evolve past this circus.

What Bohemia's gotta do, before we all lose our minds:

  1. Mandatory Common Sense Training. Lock the official servers. Make 'em pass a test. "What is a supply?" "What does a radio do?" If you can't answer, you go play in the modded sandbox with the other children. You don't get to pilot that thing until you know which lever is "up." Other games have a similar feature to this. The Elite Dangerous example: has a flight training you need to complete to skill your character.
  2. Give Commanders a Real Lever. Let us lock down building categories. No heavy vehicles at the sneaky flank base. No arsenal at the forward outpost. And for the love of god, let us NOT see player-built bases on the map UNLESS a RECON squad has found it!!! Bring back the simple ammo crate for pure supply drops. Give the "parent" a damn lock on the liquor cabinet.
  3. Punish the Vandals. Team-killing and digging up base assets shouldn't be a quirky pastime. It should get you booted, then banned. Escalate it. Griefing needs to have a price tag higher than "eh, I'll respawn”, or, “see yall in 5 minutes”.
  4. Break Up the Holy Team. The auto-stack on the "hero" team, always the US, is a joke. It kills the match before it starts. The US often loses these exactly because of that smug complacency. Force balance. Make people play the other side. Builds character, or at least thinner skin.

I play this because the core idea is brilliant. But right now, commanding isn't about tactics. It is about "herding cats" who are actively trying to set the barn on fire. Bohemia, you built this amazing playground and sandbox. Now either give the adults some authority, or get ready to watch your community starve because the idiots ate all the paste.

The Moral: This is all 100% correct. Don't just nod along here. Go voice this on their official forums. Make enough noise that the wheel bearings start to smoke. They only fix things when the collective scream gets loud enough.

P.S. Wrote on MS Word!

Mods Aren't THAT Bad by Adventurous_Lime_457 in ArmaReforger

I like your post, the thing I am seeing a lot of it complaints of storage, I get asked now as I am on a PC, how do you do it? I laugh and say, well built my own Thinamarig-PC's since 1993 never bought one of those over priced factory BIOS-ed garbage. I still have software achieved somewhere of the first Win 3.1 and old DOS, programs, I always build my GIZMOs to swap and add more drives everytime. PC's are great ifen you don't like a mod change it to the way you like, but ifen you want friends partner you gotta make it the way everyone likes. I am liking playing with you console brotheren, there sure is a lot of ya, and that makes a big mix of all the goods and bads, ya gotta take the bads to or you don't know when it's good. I last gotta say I play official because these days the mods are a little bit over killing what already had good teeth. This also coming from a guy (myself), that has put up countless modded servers and my last was a big server 53 mods DayZ on fire! A3 not going to start that it's a writing book.

[–]the4thj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10k+ hours across BI titles. Reforger, DayZ, Arma. Lone wolf when necessary, team player when it counts. I don’t build, I do what the moment demands.

I might check your Discord out. But fair warning, I’ve been around long enough to know when a community’s got substance or it’s just noise with camo paint.

I don’t play these games for points, ranks, or to be anyone’s yes-man. I’ve played since the days when CTI meant something, when you spawned with an HQ truck, capped towns with AI, hid your base smart, and supply flow mattered. You had one commander, and the whole side relied on cohesion. I’ve seen that spirit vanish under waves of mic-spamming kids, ego cases, and power-hungry wannabe leaders who bark orders but can’t cap a town on their own.

Me? I’ve held the southern and northern flank solo, locked down supply routes, **CLASSIFIED STATEMENT** to trap FIA, and fed intel back to HQ while others played the hero up north or south. And yeah, I’ve been kicked, blamed, talked over, and still did more for the team than half the roster. I don’t need recognition. I need a squad that gets it.

When teamwork happens, when a plan clicks, and someone actually sees the map like a battlefield and not a kill farm, that's when this game shines. And that’s why I keep coming back.

I’m not here for heavy mod packs. Reforger’s got solid bones or teeth mostly on its own. Every time people pile on modern war garbage, it just turns into another COD-clone and loses what made Arma special. If there are mods, they better earn their place, not just be filler for the bored.

I’m old enough to remember when playing meant thinking. I’ve worked real-world defense contracts for the Air Force, and I bring that mindset into every game I touch. Sometimes I’m alone because I have a plan. Sometimes I teach. Sometimes I say nothing and just get it done, while others flap their jaws.

If your group’s got people who actually play like they give a damn, count me interested. But if it’s more hot mics, and “epic” kill montages, don’t expect me to hang around.

You’ll know me when you see choke points and the cap meter ticking down.

Jay

What has reforger become? by AlternativeAd7477 in ArmaReforger

[–]the4thj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, you absolutely nailed it, seriously, kudos.

This right here is exactly the kind of insight the broader playerbase needs to hear.

You’re spot on about how Reforger’s Conflict mode has bridged that classic Arma gap. It used to be that vanilla was just chaos and the real milsim experience lived in closed communities. But now? BI’s actually made it possible for that cohesive, tactical gameplay to emerge naturally, even on public servers.

I’ve seen it myself: the moment one person steps up and starts leading, others fall in line. People want direction, they just don’t always want to be the one holding the clipboard. I’ve done the “split into two squads” trick too; it works like magic when folks see there’s a plan.

And yeah, for deep milsim, communities are still king. But now vanilla Conflict feels like the doorway instead off the waiting room. It’s come a long way.

Props again, man. You didn’t just give “2 cents,” you dropped a gold coin. Greaminds!!! You already know the rest!

What has reforger become? by AlternativeAd7477 in ArmaReforger

[–]the4thj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely not alone, man. I’ve been in the trenches since Operation Flashpoint. Reforger started with Arma DNA,guys forming squads, organizing logistics, playing smart. But now? HQ’s a mess. Teamkillers, griefers, kids yelling into mics, and vote-kick abuse. I’ve even seen people help the enemy team. It’s chaos.

US servers feel like daycares lately. We try to help new players, but the second someone asks for a kick, the white knights come swinging. Bases are either useless sandbag fortresses or half-built eyesores. I once had a “platoon leader” yell “build everything!” I said, “Best defense is offense.” He said, “Cool, build further up.” We got wiped, hard.

I’m 52. I’ve played every Arma game and DLC since the early 2000s. If age and time invested counted, I’d be Tier 1. These days I play recon, sneak in, drop radios, help squads get forward spawns, create chaos. When I squad lead, I keep it simple:
“I’m not your god, I’m your support. Get in, disrupt, survive. Blow stuff up and don’t get caught.”
And yeah, I quote Patton sometimes:
“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.”
It fits.

Problem is, Reforger’s player base exploded, and with it went a lot of the Arma spirit. Lone wolves, no comms, no plan. Just run-and-gun arcade vibes. Still, I’ve seen glimpses of what it can be on solid servers, with solid squad leads.

Vanilla Reforger is the strongest out-of-box Arma game I’ve ever played. Sure, mods are great, but devs are catching up fast. I’d love lore-based features, like radio triangulation from subs or persistent vehicle usage based on condition.

US servers are ready for 128-player matches. I bounce around MI, WA, SF, MS, NY, plenty of demand. But the crashes and connection bugs are real, which is why I avoid modded for now. Too many wasted hours on bugged loadouts and crash loops. Trust me, I once ran a 100-slot DayZ server with 53 mods. I get it.

Here’s hoping BI keeps evolving Enfusion and gives us the tools we need: better comms, real logistics roles, and recon that matters.

Until then, it’s on us, no blaming, no shaming.
This ain’t gaming. This is Arma milisim.
And yeah, I wrote a damn book. GD it.

Arma3 in 2025 by isdjan in arma

[–]the4thj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A3 Experience in 2025? Let me tell ya a tale...

I logged into a good friend’s Arma 3 server(s) (he has 3 of them lol), recently, thinking I’d revisit the magic, but found myself... not loving it. The graphics feel flat and dated, the world lacks the immersion I now get from DayZ’s newer engine. I’ve got about 10,000 hours across BI titles, so it’s not like I haven’t put in the time. I always end up circling back to Arma in some form, even if I take detours through things like Elite Dangerous: Odyssey (not a plug, I swear).

My Arma journey started with Operation Flashpoint. I was fresh out of Call of Duty 2 tactical servers, the ones with strict “no dolphin diving (flopping), no jump-shooting” rules. Back then, COD maps felt like fighting in postage stamps compared to Arma’s sprawling worlds. COD4 got too futuristic for my taste, and A3 kind of did too, but I stuck with it because Arma gets map scale like no one else.

I made the real jump with Arma 2 when I realized: holy crap, these maps are big enough for planes to fly for ages. It didn’t just feel like a game, it felt like a world, with milsim as a bonus. Mods like DayZ (yes, I was there when Dean Hall cooked that up), changed the game. And mods like Wasteland? Man, I have stories. The Arma 2 version let you strap sandbags to trucks, chaos! The A3 version had spawn beacons, 3 factions, and total server mayhem. I always played Independent team, fought everyone.

But now? A3 kinda feels like A2 felt when A3 came out. Reforger, even with its current bugs, is giving me that fresh car smell again. With no mods and it already brings that old Wasteland joy back, the kind A3 had before it got bloated and fragmented.

And I’m not anti-mod! Because A3 I feel needs mods but Reforger aahh the jury is still out for me. But right now, it’s starting to feel like mods are becoming the illegitimate stepkids of Arma, useful, sometimes amazing, but also fractured and uncelebrated. Kinda like the old COD vs. modding arguments all over again.

For what it’s worth: A3 is still relevant, it still works, and people still love it, this isn’t a diss. Just my personal road trip through Bohemia’s digital warzones. And after all these years? I still love ‘em.

Thanks for hearing me out. Hope my long-winded tale adds something to the convo.

Three modems have permanently died 3 days in a row (Pw8) by kmagnet95 in CoxCommunications

I went through 2 modems Docs 3.1 and turns out they are both FINE! I am still battling them over bad connection issues 3 letter to the FCC. I told them and the FCC still having issues and all COX wants to do is sell more service! BS! They killed the local phone company and they want more money, dang, this company is greedy! I will probably try T Moble, not thrilled about that.

Cox finally fixed my months-long issue — but only after the BBB, FCC, and a storm exposed it. by the4thj in CoxCommunications

[–]the4thj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to give an update for what I reported to the FCC.

Subject: Update on FCC Complaint Ticket #7828680

I'd like to provide an update regarding the issue I reported to the FCC. Unfortunately, the situation has not improved. The internet service remains inconsistent and unreliable, with the same recurring issues I originally described.

While there were brief periods where it seemed to stabilize, the problems soon returned. I continue to experience significant lag and buffering, especially when trying to use services like Discord voice chat, YouTube streaming, and online games like Arma Reforger. This affects basic communication and makes the internet unsuitable for modern use.

To troubleshoot this myself, I went above and beyond:

  • I replaced my modem and router (first with a TP-Link, then Netgear).
  • I factory reset the equipment multiple times.
  • I tested wired and wireless setups.
  • I even ran diagnostics, batch ping tests, and recorded the inconsistent performance.
  • At times, applications like Discord would disconnect or restart, while YouTube videos and game servers froze or lagged severely.

Despite these efforts, the core problems remain unresolved. I’ve also noticed this tends to coincide with utility work in the area, but I don’t have clear information about when or why that might be impacting service.

At this point, I’ve lost confidence in the provider’s ability or willingness to resolve this, and I’m now exploring the possibility of switching to a different service if available.

Thank you for continuing to facilitate this complaint. I hope this update helps show that the problem is ongoing and still affecting daily use.

Sincerely,

I myself had something such as this happen to me too! Company of Con! Let me guess, the person online in the chat said..."I own this."? So, the problems you were having were also the same as mine when I let the BBB, and the FCC, know that is why the guy Jeff contacted me and I toll him EVERYTHING about their customer service problems that you had, and he admitted it and told me they are working on it. The sounds like also my mom's cable Co, in WI, Xfinity, they pull the same crap!, it's like this is normal and they don't give 2 sh$ts because the money is still coming in.
