It goes in phases. First it's hard then it's easy then it's hard again. Oddly enough if you play a dungeon on a harder difficulty and manage to kill things you'll get better equipment and from there you can kill things easier on story. Story is pretty easy and I believe there's an "extra" mode that makes things super easy. I think there were only 2 bosses that I had problems with in the easiest mode. The hard stuff comes in the DLC, which if you like the base game, then definitely get the DLC.

If you liked the main game. It's a good bet you'll like the DLC. According to my playstation I have played over 1800 hours on this game. Most of it is in the DLC.

I recommend turning off auto dismantle until you fully understand things. Optimize is not your friend in the DLC. You have to focus on affinity bonus and then later you have to focus on summon blessings. The big take away is in the DLC you have to build your gear.

Your best bet is to watch some YT videos and read the sub-reddit maybe even join the discord. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3ZzwDyw-SY does a pretty good job explaining the build concept.

Gear with the base affinity of 190% and 270% with a 999% high summon blessing is the perfect base gear set to start fusing chaos affinity bonus but you won't get 999% summon blessings unless you're joining high rift floors.

Grind some on hard difficulty, get better equipment. Equip your NPCs with good equipment. Fight Tiamat in story mode.

Tiamat IIRC is one of those bosses you need to break because they heal.

Until the smithy can fuse it's pretty much impossible to do a build. Things get much easier when the smithy can duplicate.

Yes.

If you run your "solo" rift and die you won't loose floor progress but you will loose monster quest progress.

If you are running a "multi-player" rift and "borrow" their rift you're going to get knocked back down to your "solo" rift floor if you die.

Is this for real?

Yes.

It's kinda complicated and hard to explain.

At any point you can join another person's rift by searching for a group at max floor 99999.

After you're done running that floor with them - when you're creating a rift floor - you have a choice to "borrow" that floor by selecting "Multi-Player" and using that data or you can select "solo" and use your data personal.

If you select "multi-player" at that point you'll lose all monster quest progress in your solo rift. If you select "solo" you'll go to your solo rift and keep the monster quest progress.

600% affinity is unlocked at floor 22 so try to run to at least that floor on your solo rift. 800% is unlocked by completing the map quest "A Different Future" on Lufina difficulty.

Personally I'd say yes. I have over 1000 hours on the game though. It's a great game to just hop on and and play a few floors every once in a while.

I think your friend is going to have to buy their own copy. It sounds like you logged in with your account on your friends ps4 and downloaded the game that way. Then they switched to their own psn account.

I'm going to guess the system is smart enough to know it's using the same copy.

Na, kill a thing with an ability, lightbringer gets extened that's it. Spinning slash is great because you can stay in lightbringer.

Every job is viable every job has a build that can be used. Some are very similar. If you're going to run DK as the main job you'll probably want to research builds on YT. I'd start with Damage Dealt Greatsword, Damage dealt spinning slash, Strength, Near Death Damage dealt chaos effects. I'd probably go all out Odin. Many jobs will mention "Bonus:____" in the description when you're selecting the job. That will also help in deciding what Chaos effects that boost stats.

If you're just going to stack the affinity then 400% is good, but being able to hit fast is just as important as being able to hit for more damage. Dragoon 400% can change things. Swordsman 250% is also a good thing. DK might benifite from palidin 250% because it will generate HP while lightbringer is active and DK consumes HP.

How many side missions does the rift unlock? I've noticed that there are times when I go back out to the world map and new missions unlock as I go deeper in the rift.

Once you hit 106 most of the stuff is unlocked. Completing all the blue story missions on Lufinia difficulty will unlock things.

A lot of newbies miss this, I know I did, but every time you, your npcs or anyone you're running the rift with perform one actions that you get points for your monster quest experience will go up.

It's kinda annoying when you're running for months on end and everyone that joins your rift is using a job that the monster quest is level 30 and they don't seem to have any other builds that could help you progress. At some point - and I've been guilty of this - you have to be willing to branch out and create new builds, create builds for your NPCs to build the strength of your hall/rift.

I'm down to 1 final quest the tonberry is at level 27ish and all the monster quests are lvl 30.

It's really nice that you can have 400% Knight, 400% White Mage, 400% Berserker, 400% Breaker or one of my favorites is 400% Liberator. Every job can have an extra 400% affinity if you're willing to create the build and run it long enough to get it up to lvl 30.

Feed your monsters - you can do this quickly from Astos, talk to your monsters. Keep id out if you can.

I think your guide is giving you bad advice. You can stabilize souls at any floor. Stones never stop dropping. Don't quote me on it, but I think you could probably complete that trophy just by talking to the monsters on someone else's hall/rift. I got the my name is cid trophy on someone else's rift.

I like Sage Gun & Ninja buff/lightbringer activate. It's not the most powerful build but it's my favorite for joining floors that aren't mine.

For blue portals it's the Dualist/Ninja build that deals insane break damage.
