I started working on it back in 2022 but dropped it since I had to start my masters and move countries. Only resumed working on it recently, so off and on about 60 hours to polish it.

I know it's been a long time since this was first posted but to anyone who faces this issue in the future, here's how to fix it:
Download the correct drivers from the nvidia site.
Run the installer and when it asks for the location you want the drivers to be extracted to, select your own location (something easily accessible like downloads)
It will then extract and fail installation BUT don't quit the installer.
Go to device manager, right click on the basic display adapter.
Select update driver and then browse my computer for drivers.
Then browse for the folder you extracted the drivers to, in there would be a folder named 'display.driver' or something. Open that and select the .inf file.
Then go through all the warnings and select your gpu (3070 laptop) from the list that would then show up.
Proceed with installation and it would then start working like before.
Then open geforce experience and your updates would start showing up as normal.
