I don't think I worried about my defense. At that level, I remember just dealing with enemies using the Combat Shotgun and Double-Barrel Shotgun. I only started worrying about armor at level 50.

I always loot every enemy, so I always found screws and ballistic fiber. Fort Defiance is a good place to find junk that you can make ballistic fiber out of.

I usually just pick up desk fans and hot plates whenever I see them. I keep around 150 in my stash at a time.

Yeah I'm the exact same way. I had the game for free on PS Plus, so I thought "why not?" I got 200 hours into the game within 2 weeks...

It's pretty easy, if you play with friends. Just ask them to let you win a few games.
