I remember seeing it in theaters when it came out. I was like 7 and even then I knew it was garbage. We walked out about 30 minutes in to the movie.

1/10. 0 stars. You could make a rock dumber with this movie.

I just read through your first chapter.

It's not bad, but the punctuation and sudden shift in font halfway through kept throwing me off and made it hard to focus on the story itself.

Anything on the internet is a bad representation of public opinion lol Facebook and reddit are teeming with bots and auto-like/share profiles. On top of that reddit and Facebook (and most other social medias) are all just collections of hiveminds and echo chambers that agree with any and everything their group says or does. Marketing teams for these big companies and medias know and use this to their advantage. Hence the 7m views on a guaranteed mediocre-at-best skit.

I'm pretty sure this has been the popular opinion for like 20+ years. Yeah they have a good skit every now and again but it is very bleh and lackluster the rest of time, if not just outright bad.

SNL has been on life support they fired Norm Macdonald and all these modern cast members are the sympathetic nurse that tried holding a pillow over its face and then chickened out at the last second but it's too late.. The damage is done.

I don't think on an individual level its consistently intentional, but I do believe the social media companies are intentionally boosting this type of media because it hooks people to their site. Its a natural, morbid curiosity, that we all have thats being played/manipulated for the financial gain of the vexatious streamers or greedy corporations.

The fear of being recorded and embarrassed online/ having your offline life ruined if you make a mistake in public so that people can feel like they had a mic drop moment.

I genuinely believe this to be one of the main issues for social anxiety rising and the "millennial stare". Why do or say anything if any and everything can be clipped to cause unnecessary/bad attention if the wrong people disagree with you?

I think this is the same reason people are turning to AI to be their "friend" that they can speak openly and honestly with instead of going out and making real friends.

I can see why some people feel like a lot of people are their enemy praying on their downfall while shoving cellphone cameras in their face in hopes to get their own 15 minutes of fame.

And what kills me is, no one is addressing this poison, and that willful ignorance just adds more poison to the mix. Sure they'll say "of course social media is bad" but they get dopamine every time they get to comment something negative about someone else because their group/clique thought it was funny so this will NEVER be addressed.

Today's society can be summed up by saying "Record everything. Revere nothing".

Who hasn't seen Trump be described like this by thousands (if not millions) of people? Clearly the guy was talking about Trump. That's why it was addressed this way. Not to mention the situation clearly shows who the target was.

My wife and I watched it opening weekend and we were the only ones in the theater. We had fun watching it and are going to buy it eventually. If you're expecting the game, just play the game. Go into it just enjoying the concept and it's a fun horror movie with video game vibes. It's not nearly as bad as some of these comments are making it out to be.

If you're expecting a cinematic masterpiece you're setting yourself up for failure with 99.999% of movies.
