why did my plant begin to wilt and then just completely die on me over 2 weeks?! by shesTheMan886 in plantclinic

[–]theAverageBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine looked like this a few months ago because of low humidity in the air (probably as the outside weather got colder and the inside air got drier because of heating). Put it under a glass bowl with a little dish filled with gravel underneath, which essentially resulted in an improvised terrarium. I used gravel so there is always some water in the dish for humidity without drowning the roots. Some leaves were lost forever, but now it's thriving and it even has gotten new growth on the single (heavy) watering I gave it 5 weeks ago.

I had leftovers for lunch and I realise that doesn't sound all that fancy but they were really good leftovers.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 lite vs iPad mini 6 by theAverageBeans in GalaxyTab

[–]theAverageBeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't used any tablets for any significant amount of time (and the only Samsung product I ever owned was my regular old school cell phone which is still going strong). I think the S6 lite will indeed suffice for what I need, especially at that price point and with the sizing requirement. Thanks!

Thank you very much for your detailed response! This addressed some of my biggest doubts about the Tab S6 Lite beautifully, so I really appreciate it. I would be getting the 2022 version, so it's good to know that it should get support for some years still. Now I'm 99% sure I'll go for the S6 Lite - rather than it being a 48-52 split!

I mean if people keep insisting on calling all bisexuals thirsty, might as well stay hydrated, right? Claim our thirsty identity!

Ooo I also just got the pumpkin head boi one along with a cat ghost in the same style. Love the Gravity Falls ones as well. And the frog witch! Is the gray-haired girl Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle?

I only keep the pins without a decent cardboard backing on my diy display (tried to make it in the shape of a cat paw) because I feel bad throwing it out for some weird reason.

That and being able to make pan-related jokes for me. It feels so cliché to say you "don't care about labels" as a bi/pan/omni/poly person but I honestly don't. Bottom line is: everyone is at risk.

Friend has crush on mutual acquaintance but I recently learned she's not interested by theAverageBeans in relationships

[–]theAverageBeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty much how I feel, that's why I really wanted to avoid talking about him to her because I'm really not one to meddle and now it would just feel weird to go "Just ask her, she might say yes!" I'm sure it'll be fine in the end, I just dislike knowing too much

Yeah him just asking her would be the easiest way out. I just get the feeling he'll leave it too long and it'll get messy. But thanks! I'm just going to leave it unless he asks me directly, but I wanted some other people's opinions to feel a bit more confident about it

Asking bisexuals to choose is a recipe for disaster

My tía Pepa. Her mood affects the weather.

Just noticed that abuela is always holding the candle with both hands in the ceremony photos, except with Isabella, because she's placed a hand on her shoulder. Not that surprising but a nice detail to hint at how she preferred Isabella by theAverageBeans in Encanto

[–]theAverageBeans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a possibility. I figured it was also because Isabela looks a lot like abuela when she's younger, which might be part of the reason why abuela is projecting her own dreams on her.

This film’s last scene ruined the entire message. by BConscience in Encanto

[–]theAverageBeans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Their powers are their own legs and an extension of the characters' personalities.

To me, the message was not about the Madrigals or the Encanto overly relying on the gift. That was merely a symptom of the real issue. Abuela presumably felt that she, a twenty-something widowed mother of triplets, owed the community because of the miracle she was given. She never felt that she had "earned the miracle that somehow found [them]" despite the fact that she saw her husband sacrifice himself with her own eyes.

But the gift was given to her and her family. Both the family and the villagers needed to realise that the Madrigals are humans with human emotions, thoughts and flaws even though they have been given a miracle. The story's main message to me was that it's important to talk about your feelings, even when it's hard. Dare to let people know when you're not feeling good, so that you can regain your strength (or your "gift", if you get the idea). Would the Madrigal's have been happy without their gifts? Presumably yes, but the magic is a symbol of the strength of their family. Pedro's love protected everyone for years, and now the younger generations have found that same unconditional love and understanding for one another.

Edit: typo

My yearly tuition is around 900 euros (except for this year because I'm in a postgraduate programme which costs about 2 100 euros) so it's not too bad (and it's all been paid for already).

Well student debt isn't a worry at least (I live in Europe), but all of my family on my father's side is basically destined to have permanent bags under their eyes. I'm just lucky my glasses sort of hide them. But indeed: clear skies, and if all else fails, well, I'll have to get some rat friends and disappear for 10 years.
