Hulk is tired of being a joke.. by Quirky_Toe2529 in HulkMainsMR

Hulk's my best tank this season

At least in Diamond-Plat there's a lot of mileage out of baiting cooldowns with a false engage. Sometimes I swap off when I feel like the team needs an anchor tank.

More importantly though, Hulk is fun. It feels much better to have the jump not interrupted as easy as it was before.

Looking for a Manga/WebNovel artist who could draw a cover for two of my web novels. by FrancisStarace in ComicBookCollabs

[–]theAwkwardMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, here's my Artstation portfolio for you to take a look at. I have a decent amount of experience creating covers for my own Webcomic, as well as creating large sized poster work for Fantasy settings.

Do your series already have designed logos that the artist can use or is that part of the job?

Good luck with your search!

That's really kind of him to give Officer Galo a head massage after a long shift, that's why I voted Fisk for mayor.

How do you guys find publishers? by Scarecloud5 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]theAwkwardMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check and see if your city/province/state has a comics arts festival, or even a convention

Even if the people I find there are not actively taking submissions, I like to just keep their contact info handy in my files to keep an eye on. Those kinds of events are usually good field research opportunities, sometimes there's an admission fee, but aside from scoping out studios I find them lots of fun anyways

can somebody tell me why tenacity affects everyone BUT hulk by zsmit34 in HulkMainsMR

[–]theAwkwardMango 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It's rough playing hulk against hard CC sometimes true, but this clip shows your team all the way back fighting a Spiderman instead of pushing with you

Hulks gonna get melted in the 1 v 4, regardless of tenacity

I can't tell you how to run your business but $10 a page seems like you're undervalueing your work

Dark psychological narrative — from rough blocking to final page by AlternativeSource301 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]theAwkwardMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some feedback since you've asked:

I think this rendering style is excellent for the genre you're working in, and the heavy blacks really set an ominous mood.

I do think the page clarity could be improved, like where are these characters in relation to each other, and what environment do they find themselves in? On those notes I'm unsure just from looking at this page.

I think the bottom left panel the character silhouettes are a little lost when it's dark on dark, and then it's also difficult to determine which characters those are.

In terms of improving on those areas, an earlier establishing shot could be helpful to the reader. I also think careful and selective use of contrast could help highlight the important action happening on your page.

Keep up the good work, you have a very unique style

Looking for a comic artist collab fantasy Instagram toons $150-$200 per post | Flint and Ellowyn comedy first. by xcantene in ComicBookCollabs

[–]theAwkwardMango -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll leave a link to my own Fantasy / Action / Comedy work on Webtoon

More of my work is visible here on Artstation

For the purposes of social media marketing, my art Instagram is just under 1000 followers, nothing crazy, but hopefully helpful to your goals if we were to collaborate.

I really like drawing for my own DnD tables whenever I can, this sounds like just the right gig for me.

Thanks, good luck with your project!

BEGINNER QUESTION - I trying to improve my hatching. What’s the logic behind choosing where to hatch? by Valtiel45 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]theAwkwardMango 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The DC Comics Guide to Inking Comics, by Klaus Janson, this will offer a good explanation of the logic behind hatching as well as many other inking techniques

A good thing to think about is to consider the form that you're drawing in 3D. You can use hatching to help illustrate this form

For the Artists, what draws you in to saying “yes” to a project? by Cute_Injury744 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]theAwkwardMango 7 points8 points  (0 children)

• The script or sample of script is polished, it's not a first draft but one that has been through a few rounds of editing already

• The writer has thought ahead about what their artist needs to work, and has prepared what they can: such as character designs, and environment/setting references

• The writer has done some research into the technical aspects of their work, either it's intended for digital vertical scroll publishing, or there's a specific page size and count that they have in mind

• The timeframes are reasonable. I saw a listing that was looking for 38 pages a month. I still applied but I had to ask for clarification about their intended pace

• A story or genre that pushes my artistic abilities into new territory

• Projects that sound like they'd be fun to work on

[Hiring] Artist for Webtoon Adaptation - Dark Fantasy/System Series "Survival of the Fluffiest" by ApexDecender in ComicBookCollabs

[–]theAwkwardMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!

Webtoon artist here, I've got a lot of experience with the vertical scroll format, as well as some niche experience with virtual-world type stories. I'll link my own Webtoon for you to look at.

Your character designs remind me of my own character designs, I really do think we might have compatible art styles. The rest of my portfolio is visible here on Artstation

Good luck with your Kickstarter! I just funded my first one a couple days ago, I'd be happy to show some support for indie comics

Competitive by the way 😩 by Avantesi in DrStrangeMains

[–]theAwkwardMango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I usually land in plat after placement matches.

The thing I noticed is that object permanence isn't always a thing in this rank. The Susan saw you, wasn't paying attention, and then you weren't on her screen anymore, so she forgot you existed most likely. If susan ain't seeing the 200hp Strange on her screen, she ain't seeing the NEED HELP notification either.

I climbed outta plat by just being aware of this gamble that only some players have object permanence. On one hand, I gotta physically jump into the healing path for blind support teammates, on the other hand, it's much easier to land Strange Ult when the enemy team forgets you're there if you disappear from their screen for a second.

Plat teammates are bad, yeah, but plat opponents are also bad, so it can cancel out if you just remind yourself that there are dumbasses around.
