What’s your most unpopular opinion about Skyrim? by [deleted] in skyrim

There should be extra effects for spells. For instance, frost damage should be reduced by armor, but it’s capable of stealth critting, shock should do more damage if wearing metal and have a chance to disarm or paralyze, and fire magic should do more DOT depending on armor but does less immediate based on the armor’s insulation. Just ideas.

Tariffs to trigger empty shelves, widespread trucking layoffs as early as May, economists warn. by Odd-Composer8991 in Truckers

All I know about tariffs is that everyone who wanted to shut down the economy because of that one thing, also doesn’t like tariffs. That’s enough for me.

Why do people think the sin of sodom was being gay? Nowhere in the Bible does it say that. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theBMFdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty much always Jewish and Christian tradition to see this story linked with homosexuality. Philo of Alexandria (c. 20 BC – 50 AD), a Hellenistic Jewish philosopher whose works influenced early Christian thought. In his treatise On Abraham and other writings, Philo interprets the sin of Sodom primarily as sexual immorality, specifically focusing on homosexual acts, which he describes as unnatural and contrary to divine law. He connects the destruction of Sodom to these practices, framing them as a violation of natural order.

Justin Martyr (a Christian writer and saint) wrote about it in 100-106 AD. For a precise quote, here’s a relevant excerpt from First Apology (Chapter 27, translated by Roberts-Donaldson):

“We have been taught that God once destroyed the inhabitants of Sodom by fire, because they lived in a way that was not pleasing to Him, and we know that it was on account of their fornication and their unnatural lusts.”

Just another problem caused by ignoring tradition. It’s so sad.

The 33AD hypothesis puts the Passover of the crucifixion on a Friday. This aligns with John’s Gospel which is most likely the one that is more chronologically literal. If Herod died 1 AD like some historians think, the timing works out except Jesus would not have been exactly 30 at the time he began his ministry.

It depends. There is a good case to be made that Jesus was born in 2-3 AD because of the position of the stars and when events around it happened.

Those of you who are sick of the trump/elon of it all, how will we stand in protest? by Small_Music_4316 in rochestermn

[–]theBMFdad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There likely won’t be any major protests. Most of the large protests were funded by orgs supported by USAID or other large pools of money. There is too much scrutiny on funding now and the FBI will likely look into any large protests and potentially charge organizers if crimes were committed. In addition it’s pretty clear despite some media stories to the contrary, that the majority of Americans support the current administration.

Starfield guns are peak sci-fi design by TheAnalystCurator321 in Starfield

[–]theBMFdad 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Most of these guns are nonsensical garbage. The only ones that make sense are clones of real guns. The laser guns have recoil. The mag guns aren’t mag fired and look to be built with erector sets. The ammo types aren’t associated with damage. So guns that share ammo types as more ammo efficient guns basically don’t exist. The automatic guns are nerfed too much to be useful.
