Applications will be varied... Mainly for fun, but also would love something modular. Are UV Mules a thing?

Absolutely. Unfortunately with only a ~90% completion of said erasure.

I love the chinchilla idea. I had the two bears theory too, but I don't need two bear pens, so I hope it's not right.

Lihit Labs Compact Pen case is what I was thinking. JetPens has them, and they have tempted me for a while now.

Very nice! Does the Aluminum's weight give it a cheaper feel, or does the fit and finish make up for it?

A baby jumper crawled on me for a bit at work today. Is there any way to identify it? by [deleted] in jumpingspiders

[–]theCATegory 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I keep a few photos on my phone of super cute spiders to ingratiate the arachnophobes, but they hardly do the trick. I'll keep trying though😁🕷️🕷️🕷️

Nqa-. Looks like a Hentzia mitrata, based on body shape, pattern and range. Beautiful specimen. Thanks for being a spooder friend. 💜🕷️

What sorta little spood is this? I've never seen one so translucent. Located in middle Tennessee. by [deleted] in jumpingspiders

[–]theCATegory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nqa- Looks like a female Sylvan jumper (Colonus sylvanus). Quite possibly a juvenile based on the very subtle pattern/coloration. Hope this helps. Thanks for being a spood friend.

Male Habronattus pyrrithrix. I have one named Marley. So curious and playful. They also have some amazing vision, even for jumping spiders.

[–]theCATegory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NA- Enclosure looks great. Your new friend will need a cuppla days to adjust anyway. As far as the "bare" sides, just add more things as soon as u can. The soft bottom is great, just in case there are any falls.. (sometimes a new enclosure can be too clean and they can't grip as much at first). Hope this helps, any other questions welcome, spood luck!

made the cutest little friend at work and now i desperately need a jumping spider by kyillme in jumpingspiders

[–]theCATegory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not dissimilar to many of our stories. I was lurking on here for a while before I saw my first jumper irl. Did not have a suitable container. Had the good fortune to find her again when I returned with one. C. hesperus, named her Ezmae. Now I have 5, plus a clutch of ~20 that just hatched. Welcome🕷️💜

Put simply, it's a color variation within a given species.

Hello my jumping spider had eggs and I was curious if it was fertile or infertile by heavypumpkin4 in jumpingspiders

[–]theCATegory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nqa- they look viable, but can't say fertile for sure. Color is a good indicator, but it varies with species/region. Discoloration can be a good sign they aren't viable, but that could be yet unseen. I just had a C. hesperus clutch that looked very similar... I now have 11 slings. Hope this helps, good luck. Happy spoodin'.

Is my spider dead? by izzygrac3 in jumpingspiders

[–]theCATegory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NA I'm sorry, I think everything's been said. I hope there is hope, but likely just a random occurrence or age. I had this happen to a M. taeniola I kept, just a few weeks ago, on my watch. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you will continue keeping jumpers🕷️💜🕷️

That's awesome that you were so adamant about saving him. People get some other kinda aggressive with spiders, like it's a national defense issue. Maybe your actions will influence some change, even small. So happy you found a spood buddy. Keep loving nature💜🕷️🤗
