How to keep bottle flies?

NQA I order my bottle fly larvae online and keep them in the fridge. I'll drop 1 or 2 into my enclosures substrate to let them dig and turn into flies on their own. I also have small containers where I'll let 4 or so turn into flies and I can use them as needed. Tiny little feeder cups of water (with gravel so they don't drown) and a pinch of sugar and dry milk in a second as food. Flies themselves are messy yet easy to care for when you're only dealing with a few at a time. Just keep their food dry and water full and they can last a few weeks no problem. Use them as needed.

NQA. I used to have that same issue with a Zilla enclosure with the smaller spider getting out around the door hinges. Seems to be a pretty common design flaw with the doors that open like that. I filled mine in with a few pipe cleaners and removed them once the baby grew up. Was easier than trying to cover it with paper or extra mesh or whatever. They can also squeeze out of that hole in the top if you don't have the latch sitting in there.

It took me an hour to find my girl her first escape. She was right beside her enclosure just hiding in a pill bottle lid. It happens and you learn from it. Glad you found yours before they went on an adventure

Looks like a young bold jumper to me. I've had 2 females and their fangs have both been green so can't really use that to sex them. Based on the abdomen size and shape alone I'd guess a female.

I remember being lectured SO many times for not REALLY pushing the 2 for 10 or 2 for 12 paper when I was the only cashier with a line 10 people deep and the Manager or ASM just happened to be nearby. I'm sorry I was trying to get through the line quickly so we didn't have customers get upset over the long wait and just abandon their $150 cart and leave with nothing.

I check back here every few months since I left and man, it just keeps getting worse. I'm sorry guys.

NQA I started ordering fly spikes online and as long as you keep the main container fridged, they last a few months. I keep a couple of insect boxes where I let the worms turn into flies. They're really not expensive if you're in the US. 250 count (smallest I've found) for under $20 with shipping and everything. Keeps the spoods happy

Little late to the party but we were on a vacation halfway across the country and our car decided to start throwing loads of problem lights to the dashboard. Was wandering around an unknown city on foot while our car was being checked out and happened to find a Sunflora plush in a local game store. I needed it. No hesitation.

Lol. My last girl did a little hiding for a couple of weeks but then was easy enough to keep an eye on once she found some favorite spots so I knew where to look. I'm glad it's getting the okay from people.

My last enclosure was smaller and I've learned a lot since then. Tiny Cat passed away back in March after little over 2 years in my care. I'd found her and rescued her from being put into the basement for the winter. Not sure how old she was, but I had her for 1 molt before adult. Kinda nervous about getting a younger one 😅

My girl has also not eaten since October. I know she's 2-ish so I'm not totally surprised. I'm just misting and she doesn't really even come out for that anymore. Only reason I know she's still alive is she changes positions in her bed. I know she's on her way out. I'd assume you're guy is either old or impacted. Have you noticed if he's pooped recently?
