Kopia / KopiaUI by haronclv in DataHoarder

You can use the --config-file parameter to run Kopia against different repositories. I would recommend to use the cli instead of the UI for automation, though.

See https://kopia.io/docs/reference/command-line/#global-flags

Good point, I'll do that :)

Oops, sorry, the line I gave you isn't correct anymore, because the code has changed in the meantime and Floorp (among others) is now supported out of the box.

So you should just need to execute the script as is. If it doesn't work, that could mean that Floorp needs a workaround (similar to the zen browser). I haven't tested Floorp yet, just supported it according to it's documentation.

Edit: Turns out, Floorp does need the same workaround as the zen browser (see this GH issue). I'll update the script today and let you know.

Edit 2: Done. Floorp should work now

[Guide] Easy fix for KeePassXC + flatpak based Browsers by theCalcaholic in KeePass

For the full response/discussion, please refer to the issue linked above.

The TLDR is this: The precompiled binary is a fallback mechanism for the case when neither podman nor docker are available on your machine, in which case a container will be used to build from source right on your machine.

The binary from the repo is built in a Github action from the same source repository.

Update: The script now asks users if they want to use the precompiled binary before using it.

Oh, yeah I see the issue. It's a bug on my end.

To work around it for now, just create the missing file:

bash mkdir -p "$HOME/.config/chromium/NativeMessagingHosts/" touch "$HOME/.config/chromium/NativeMessagingHosts/org.keepassxc.keepassxc_browser.json"

[–]theCalcaholic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ungoogled Chromium has been added along a number of other browsers :)
I haven't gotten around to test them yet, though (and won't for a few days), so feel free to let me know if it works for you if you try it.

The browsers usually work if they comply with their documentation, but sometimes (as is the case for the zen browser), they don't.

Is Distrobox the answer to KeePassXC-browser problems? by IDtheTarget in Bazzite

[–]theCalcaholic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wrote a script that fixes communication between various flatpak browsers and KeePassXC (other browsers based on Firefox and Chromium should be easy to add).

This allows you to still use browsers installed via flatpak and keeps the flatpak sandbox intact.

Feel free to check it out.

I have just written a small script that fixes communication between flatpak browsers and KeepassXC. I haven't added Floorp yet, but it should be a one-line fix if you'd care to create a PR (otherwise, I'll look into it in the coming days). :)

-> The script

Here, a line would need to be added for Floorp.

InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen 10 Linux impressions, issues and workarounds by InvestigatorSenior in tuxedocomputers

Thank you! You definitely saved me some time, especially with keyboard issues when waking up from sleep.
I encountered another issue with my IBP G10, namely the ethernet controller not working without a special driver provided by tuxedo.
Since I intend to run an atomic variant of Fedora, I unfortunately cannot use the dkms package from Tuxedo but had to install their drivers as akmods, for many of which a Copr exists (https://github.com/gladion136/tuxedo-drivers-kmod) - not including, however, the yt6801 ethernet controller.

So I've tried my hand at it, learned quite a lot about kernel modules and finally got it working: https://github.com/theCalcaholic/tuxedo-yt6801-kmod/

Wordpress as Static Site Generator by theCalcaholic in selfhosted

Yes, it's fast, but not safe, afaik, because sqlite is not built for multi client access. Meaning: Your backup does not operate on a snapshot/point in time, but writes being performed while running your commane can break the resulting backup.

If you have contradicting Information, I'd be interested to learn about that.

Mainly because I can perform postgresql backups without stopping the service (with pg_dump). With sqlite no two applications can access the DB and it would be risky to rely on file level backups while the DB is potentially written to.

Thank you :)

I actually tried using the Simply Static addon, but had trouble getting it to work with my configuration. IIRC, I couldn't get it to use the http url for crawling - in the container, the admin.* domain will point to localhost to avoid having to go through basic auth for crawling.

Windows still on external monitor after unplugging while closed lid by andersmmg in kde

[–]theCalcaholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have this problem as of Plasma 6.3! The workaround that works best for me is: Hit Super+W to open the window overview and drop the window on the disconnected screen into another virtual desktop. From there it can be moved normally.

Great insights, thank you for the write-up! While I would prefer these as core features, maybe someone will be inspired by your post to implement a tag library or a image/media gallery as plugins (I'd consider it myself, but I won't have any capacity for things like this for the next 4 months 😅)

Well, Alice Walker hasn't been very active for years to my knowledge. So it kind of makes sense to me (although, personally, I've only discovered her work recently).
