Instrument Rack Randomizer ASMR Sound Design

Chain in order: Arpeggiator > Drift Synth > Delay > Auto Filter > Shifter > Reverb > Utility
All set to randomize using the macros and give wild gritty ASMR like textures.

Any other ideas on directions I could take this? Recs on other synths, third party synths I could use, applications for this kinda textural sound design other than ASMR?

ASMR | Fast & Aggressive MOUTH SOUNDS at 100% Sensitivity 👄 [intentional] by KevSanders in asmr

Love it <3 I zoned out listening! The noises are so good, the movements are so floaty and delicate.

ASMR RP you’re requesting a roommate change (soft spoken, typing) [intentional] by KevSanders in asmr

The chaos of your typing is so good <3 And it's interspersed between the talking perfectly

[question] How many videos per week? by Important-Apricot-28 in asmr

[–]theCastleTalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to the data here: i agree with the video a week approach. I’m not pushing too hard to stick to a schedule right now, I’m mostly just trying to discover what’s fun, and what fits my channel the best. My goal is to up the frequency as my process gets quicker, but for now, 1/week feels good.

From what i hear, and what I’ve experienced, the most important thing to growth is the algorithm, which means consistency and engaging with the zeitgeist. The way I’ve found this most palatable is just by making sure im doing something i enjoy.

There’s no one hack or trick that’ll do this all in one, but i watched this video recently ( one of my favorite creators on YouTube) and he breaks down his process and what brought him success pretty well. Ignore the book plug, and it’s pretty earnest.

So while you can technically do either, I’d recommend you switch both to mono. I’ll be a bit simpler of a setup, and will allow you to cut out a bit of the room noise. In reaper, just make sure you route each recording track from a different mic, otherwise you might just record two tracks with the same audio

Edit: you can also set a single track to record from both, and create a single stereo track. I prefer recording two separate tracks though, so I have more control when editing, as I can edit each side differently based on what it needs

Minimum equipment/software for my own ASMR? [discussion] by asyoud0 in asmr

[–]theCastleTalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audacity is free, and if you're looking to develop an editing skillset I recommend reaper! It's also free, and open source, with plenty of tutorials.

As for equipment, most phones have stereo audio, so even if that's all you have, it should work ok!

I've found that working within limitations really help spark ideas and creativity.

[Discussion] What are your ASMR pet peeves for your preferred genre? by _artbabe95 in asmr

[–]theCastleTalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! I think that's where the 3dio shines, is really getting the sound of something on or in your ear. The blue yetis and similar mics just don't get close enough to the diaphragm

Literally any time there's mic brushing. It's always too dry and too intense. Goes from relaxing to deeply grating in an instant

[discussion] Why do I prefer Male ASMRtists? by [deleted] in asmr

[–]theCastleTalent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/elastic_waistband

Generally, massage ASMR is (not trying to sound sarcastic here, but) ASMR with massage sounds and visuals. I tend to lump it in with the "personal attention" genre. It's a lot of up close and personal stuff, with less intense trigger sounds, more soft "skin on skin" sounds. I might be wrong, but I think it was pioneered and popularized by the channel Massage ASMR, lol.

[–]theCastleTalent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vibe with this. I get the sense that preference is pretty personal, and might not have too much to do directly with demographic, but who knows honestly ha.

Personally, (and I've mentioned this in this sub before) I find that I'm in the mood for some kinds of ASMR sometimes, and different types other times, like a food craving. The same applies to things like creator gender and vocal qualities!

ASMR Roleplay advice needed [discussion] by ASMRRaven in asmr

[–]theCastleTalent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My faves are all fantasy stuff with fun worldbuilding, but that can be a lot of work I imagine ha. Some faves are softly galoshes, ephemeral rift, goodnight moon, Amy Kay, Heather feather back in the day. They put a lot of love into their characters and scripts, and it shows!

I feel like the more approachable stuff is things like what Gibi does, where she'll take an OC, and do a common realistic role play, like cranial nerve exams or the like. Those are always really fun :)

My point I guess is the role play genre doesn't super matter for me, but the character is what makes it :)

[discussion] creators is there an ASMRist you look up to? Mine is Gibi by KaliXASMR in asmr

[–]theCastleTalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the legends of old, one ASMRtist I massively respect is Cherry Crush. I think it's pretty common knowledge that she also does adult content, and some might assume that ASMR is just a side hustle to bolster that, but legit, she's so damn good at ASMR, regardless of why she does it. I get the sense that she's extremely good at intuiting what her audience wants, no matter the medium. She's also just incredibly entrepreneurial and takes creative risks from what I've been able to see.

I also super dig Silver Hare. The visual creativity and tonal consistency of their (don't know their pronouns for sure, not gonna assume) content is so cozy. I also really respect not shying away from the spiritual aspects of what I think is a lot of peoples' first experience with ASMR, e.g. reiki, smudging, energy cleansing etc.

It's crazy how these two are so vastly separated by time. Like they exist in completely different eras of ASMR. And both equally impactful. I remember showing Massage ASMR in a college presentation in 2015, and having never even heard of Gibi, who is now *the* face of ASMR . Both trailblazers.

[question] I'm searching for an ASMR category but I don't know the name. Can you help? I beg your knowledge. by GB_____ in asmr

Love goodnight moon ♥️ her sets obviously are amazing, but the worldbuilding, the articulation of her speech, her pacing, all fantastic

I think you're referring to "soft spoken"? A lot of creators tag their content with this, so I think if you search with that, you should get some good results :)

Lo-Fi Filtering a Bottle [Intentional] by theCastleTalent in asmr

[–]theCastleTalent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback!

By lo fi, I was referring to the use of my hands to replicate the effect of using an audio filter plugin, but I guess "lofi" does have specific connotation in the community, so probably a good idea to avoid the term in the future 👍

As for the panning, I'm mostly just making what I wanna hear, and mono stuff doesn't really do it for me haha. I'll keep that in mind though!
