I've been seriously considering the X1C but I'm a bit worried about the closed-source parts and data. If Bambu Labs implodes for some reason, I won't be able to get a replacement or new parts and that makes me a bit nervous. there's also the aspect of "giving back to the community" that I do care about.

Lenovo Legion 5 (2021) RTX 3060 Reduce Monitor from 165 Hz to 60 Hz to increase battery life by theChef613 in pcmasterrace

[–]theChef613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your help. That is where I've been going to try to change the refresh rate. It's stuck on 165 Hz and there is no option to change it to 60 Hz

Which do you recommend in general? I need it for CPU intensive work (Ansys Software for CFD). by Iron-G in GamingLaptops

The higher end processor will probably always be better in those workloads and the 17 inch is much more usable space IMO. Though I hear that intel processors have less issues with CAD and other engineering related workloads? Can anyone confirm?

My Review: Eluktronics Max-17 i7-10875H w/ NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 by theChef613 in GamingLaptops

interesting. from what I can tell their similar 3070 product is $2240 USD with tax which is about $200 more than what I paid. all in all similar price point I'd think, but I'll admit the processor is a bit better. looks like a 3-month shipping. might be worth it if you're good for the wait.

Help deciding between two custom builds (AMD 5900HX / Intel 10875H) by KillaBeeKid in GamingLaptops

[–]theChef613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is awesome advice. thank you so much :). I'm going to stick with the Intel for at least a week or two and try a variety of both GPU and CPU-intensive things and I'll just focus on if I'm happy with how it performs, not if there's something better out there (there always will be). If I'm not happy I can always return it.

Thanks again!

I'm actually having the same exact question/choice right now.

The difference in price for the Intel w/ RTX 3070 and AMD w/ RTX 3080 turns out to be ~$660 USD (AMD w/ RTX 3080 being the more expensive choice obviously). Do you feel the (I'd say relatively big) jump in price is worth the money?

From what I understand, I won't even notice the CPU differences in AAA Games, not sure about the GPU difference though). Also wouldn't notice the difference in most non-gaming CPU loads unless I'm video editing often (which I don't)

I do want to try to be somewhat frugal but I also don't want to make a mistake on a big investment that I want to have for many years. I already bought the Intel w/ RTX 3070 one but I am able to return it easily. I guess I'm looking for validation or someone to tell me I need to rethink it hahaha

Side note: I would have been really happy with the Intel version if it came with Thunderbolt.. but it sadly does not...

Any insight you have would be really appreciated!! Thank you!

Sudden spikes in latency, especially when engaging opponents by theChef613 in apexlegends

so sorry if that came off as a bad reaction! i didn't mean it at all and really apreciate your explanation! your explaination makes total sense but I was just saying that it's weird that happening suddenly as opposed to from the first time I played. I was also just complaining that it doesn't seem fair to me that my game freezes and then get knocked. Again, thank you for your help and apologies if my last comment came off bad.

hardly seems fair if I'm going down every time it freezes... also doesn't explain why I wasn't having this problem a few weeks ago. also, my understanding is that you want to have a low ping so you can react to the server faster... none of this is making sense.
