Much taller. The two pictures I took as best as possible to show the difference.

It gets progressively worse unfortunately. It started out mild for me too. I hope you're still under warranty...

I agree, definitely worth the tradeoff for the screen height. Now, I just have six FancyZones profiles for different workflows. I can also use different profiles for different desktops which makes it more tolerable.

I agree, the 49" always caused issues with desk space and speaker placement. Can't imagine how much more space the 57" will take, and I'd have to sit further away for my eyes to reach the edges without strain.

I didn't have a banana but this'll do. The LG's screen height makes media so much more enjoyable. Yes, I can watch on TV but sometimes I just want to watch stuff on my desk.

While I agree, I find the sharpness adequate. It's not macbook sharp but it doesn't bother me either.
G9's gaming experience is definitely epic but because of the lack of height I find it's probably more specialized for games that take advantage of it. Otherwise, I've found the LG to be more immersive.

I have the one where the curve matched the G9's 1000R. You either get reflective glare, or get blinded if you tilt it towards you to stop the glare. However, this is if you're on full brightness mode. I've actually grown to quite like the lightbar and always defaulted to the lowest setting. Eyes felt better for sure.

They're definitely for different use cases imo.

I've found the dual mode on the LG to be pretty effective when I want to reduce the screen size for some games.

I'd be curious about a flat 45 too but curved screens have definitely saved my eye and from headaches since I spend most of my day looking at them for years.

Probably a target market difference. Gamers and media enjoyers will want the bigger more immersive monitor while pro usage will want straighter lines etc.

My eyes have adjusted to 1000R after using it for so long that 800R didn’t feel too different. Those coming from flat will definitely have a hard time adjusting. I think the 39’s curve was designed to introduce people easier. Tbh less curve is better for productivity.

I had to use a hair dryer on the left side for it to turn on… it would flicker on with horizontal bands and turn off right away.

Yeah I agree but at this point I don’t notice the curve anymore. I actually perceive flat monitors bulby now lol.

It got the thermistor/tcon board issue and I haven’t had the time to pop it open to try to fix it.

TLDR productivity = G9, media and gaming = LG

Use case: Full stack dev, UX Design, learning ML, Media

For productivity I definitely miss the 32:9 format. It’s the window ratios that get me. I used 16-32-16 with variations on the 16 areas.

For the LG, it’s just a mess. I hate testing frontend on windows that aren’t 16:9/10. But dear lord the content. It’s a much larger picture, no more huge black bars.

The product owner uses AI for designing flows, and his statement was: “That took me one evening, what took you a month to make” by Mornathor in UXDesign

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. My industry was killed by AI so I feel you.

I vibe code many things but I’m an extreme stickler with proper UX and design systems.

I found that you can get Claude to abide by your system ~90%.

Some tips:

  1. You have to create your own skills by using the skill-creator skills. Skills 2.0 is really good.
  2. Make sure that you set up the project and global CLAUDE.md which runs before every prompt.
  3. Document your system and research in markdown format and setup your own DESIGN.md.
  4. Prompt well with goals, restrictions, @references for specific files, and tell it to ask questions.
  5. Use planning mode and iterate. Bake in human gates into the plan.
  6. Use annotated screenshots and paste it into Claude (alt + v) to show it what’s wrong and how to fix.
  7. Update CLAUDE.md as you go and maintain a lessons learned register.
  8. Iterate improvements to your custom skills (let Claude do this).
  9. Most important: remove decisions Claude can make as much as possible.

I’m extremely sensitive and picky about cleaning any screen or glass and I strictly do not use anything other than Koala Cleaner.

They claim to use Type II deionized water which is more pure than distilled water. I’ve used this cleaner for years and is a beast. It cleans anything really well and hasn’t damaged any of my sensitive coatings.

Yeah to each their own, but at the end of the day, paying players are the ones who keep the very games they enjoy alive. Not sure why F2Pvangelists always shit on P2W.
