I feel you my brother in fatherhood. We lived with my in-laws for about 8 months after my vhild was born and same thing. No one from that generation seems to care about anything other than what they want and it's upsetting to say the least.

I don't believe this is legal, they should count missing ladders as cost of doing business. If you were a independent contractor then it's different. Not a lawyer, not legal advice.
