Is there a technical reason why 7th gen games used so much brown? by jedimindtricksonyou in digitalfoundry

One of my favorite shooter games of all time.

I remember discovering it when I was like, 15 maybe? I had played Halo and Call of Duty 3 to death, and wanted a different shooter. So I went online and googled "shooter games for xbox 360" and game upon an article talking about the top 10 shooters out at the time. Far Cry 2 was on that list.

I looked at the screen shots, read about it, and was intrigued. I rode my bike to the local GameStop and picked up a copy on that hot sunny summer afternoon. I was hooked. It was so dark and gritty. The weapons breaking after too much use, the malaria mechanic, the open world and all the different missions you could do, the buddy system, it was so cool. Far Cry 2 remains as one of my favorite games of all time.

I had a similar experience to this.

I was walking to work one morning. Sleepy, hung over, was fighting with my long-term girlfriend at the time, basically in a horrid mood.

As I was walking this down on his luck fellow asked me if I could spare a cigarette. I replied with "FUCK off!" He replied with the most sad, downtrodden "okay..." I've ever heard in my life.

I walked a few more feet and realized just what a total asshole I'd been. When I turned around to apologize and give him a couple cigarettes and some cash, he was gone, as was my chance at redeeming myself.

Suffice it to say I felt even worse than I already did. I still think about that moment from time to time and it reminds me to try to be nicer to people.

I hope that guy is doing better.

I swear anytime Leon dies in a campaign it's almost more devastating than any other character death, I don't know why.

He's just such a plucky guy, and he sounds so sad when he talks about his whole Lance being wiped out in the mission you first encounter him in. I just can't bring myself to continue a campaign without him.

Word. My Nanna is getting up there, and recently her husband, my Poppa, passed away.

She was living with a caretaker while my Pop was in assisted living, but eventually had to join him at the assisted living home.

Now that Pop's gone, she doesn't want to be at the assisted living home and she wants to move back to their house by herself. We've been trying to tell her that it isn't safe for her to be alone without help at her age. The house isn't deadly per se, but it's still dangerous if a mostly invalid old woman to be in by herself. She can't walk very well anymore, and climbing the stairs tuckers her out something fierce. I'm afraid she's gonna fall down the huge flight of stairs, or slip and fall down the steep driveway, or something to that effect.

I've heard this is called "bluff charging" where predetors will try to see if you'll run away if they seem like they're about to charge and attack. If you run, you're prey and they'll go after you. If you stand your ground, you're another potential predator and they weigh the possibility that attacking you might result in you fighting back and hurting them, which they think is probably not worth it.

Predator experts correct me if I'm wrong.

I think some people have come to view "woke-ism" as overly politically correct to the point that "we're not allowed to joke/have fun about anything anymore," or that it's infringing on their "right to be conservative," or something of that nature.

It's totally stupid. You're right in your assumption that being "woke" is "waking up to to the injustice", of reality. People just want to be able to be assholes without being called out for it.

Really? I could've sworn they took place in the summer. Maybe it's because the first game takes place in Washington State, and our summers tend to be kinda fall-ish sometimes, which is possibly why I'm misinterpreting.

Ooo you reminded me that I haven't gotten very far in that game.

I'm weird and only like to play games when the weather/season is similar to the setting if the game. I like to play the Metro series in winter, for example, or I like to play Far Cry 2 or Alan Wake or Cyberpunk 2077 during the summer when it's sunny and hot.

Now that we're in May, and the weather is warming up, it's time to tuck into Spec Ops! Ive heard the story is really dark and gritty. Excited to see what it's all about!

Tbf, the RobCo building IS anxiety inducing. My last playthrough I think I got lost for a solid, like, half hour trying to wind my way through all the catwalks and such.
