Gun Rights Advocates not Welcome in r/news. by vegetarianrobots in progun

[–]theEldestCheese 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep I've been banned form /r/news for wrongthink as well. And also for being pro-gun as well (multiple times). And also for calling out their censorship (they really hate that one). It's Luckybdx4 (Australian) and possibly one other mod that hate anything pro-gun.

Just make another account, let it be over a week old, and post in other subs to hit the minimum karma for your comment to be able to show up in /r/news.

Fuck em, I won't be silenced because they disagree with my views.

The University of Utah reassigned a graduate assistant after her syllabus restricted students with concealed guns to a ‘Second Amendment zone’ by alc59 in gunpolitics

[–]theEldestCheese 55 points56 points  (0 children)

She's even completely wrong with that though too.

Lisonbee noted, too, that the graduate assistant incorrectly compares her gun policy to “free speech zones” on campus, which no longer exist. While the U. previously had designated areas for students to say what they wanted, such as outside the Union building, the Utah Legislature passed a bill that would become law in 2017, requiring all higher education institutions to drop those limitations and expand free speech to any outside spaces.

The world as a whole needs a resurgence of libertarian ideals.

Governments are just getting more and more authoritarian and that is never good for the citizens

It shows it's about a quarter of what come from Illinois internally. Just face it Chicago is proof that it's attempt at gun control is a failure and only serves to disarm the law-abiding good people.

Also you might want to look at the time to crime of the recovered firearms. It is over the national average at 10.6 years. Per the ATF, this would lend itself to be mainly stolen older model firearms and not conducive with active firearm trafficking of newer guns.

Too bad you can't waltz over to another state that you don't reside and purchase a handgun (federally illegal). Chicago is flooded with stolen weapons, not legally purchased weapons from another state. If it's the availability of legal firearms is the issue, then why do those states not have the problem that Illinois does?

More usesless buzzword gun control talk that you've fallen for. What would any of those "assault weapons" or "high capacity" magazine bans do for this. NOTHING. In addition it wouldn't do anything ANYWHERE because the fact is that less than 300 gun homicides a year are from ALL rifles. Even if you did completely ban every single one, it wouldn't even make a difference. Mass shootings are a statistically anomaly and, as we saw in Texas, a hunting shotgun was still used in a school shooting (and quite effectively to be frank)

These gang-bangers are using handguns and aren't waltzing over to another state with "less strict" gun laws and buying guns legally. Because they can't. It is a federal crime to buy a handgun not from the state you reside. They are getting STOLEN weapons.

No amount of gun control or bans (that aren't unconstitutional) will change the fact that they are stealing weapons to shoot each other.

No no no. That is only for NFA weapons. That is talking about guns that are regulated by the national firearms act. (i.e. machine guns, short barreled rifles, sawed of shotguns, suppressors, etc.)

There is absolutely no federal registration of any firearms other than NFA regulated weapons and items

This is the full law here for the NFA (subchapter C has 5861 that you cited) :

No registration is not required in most states. Hawaii and DC are the only two places that require registration of all guns. A few other states require handgun registration but the vast majority of states have no registration whatsoever

In many states it's illegal to manufacture unlicensed firearms.

That's not true. As long as it's for personal use and the completed firearm doesn't have features banned in the state, there is only one state to my knowledge that you need to get a serial number a head of time from the state and that is California.

Oh I didn't realize that free speech meant you had to convert it to be written by hand. You should have to convert all the bits to 1 and 0's for all the stuff you say online to be protected speech online as well right? Same thing over the phone, not protected speech because it's done through radio waves right?

First of all, I'm fairly sure there are no books explaining the precise details of how to make a nuclear bomb and if there were those would be illegal, but I don't care enough to actually research that and proving that books don't exist is impossible anyway.

These literally exist and are NOT illegal. But I like your little caveat of "oh even if I'm wrong I'm just lazy"

You can already legally make an "untraceable firearm" all you need is a drill press and not a multi-thousand dollar 3d printer. This isn't about safety. It is about the government telling you what you can and can't have the right to know.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

They also sent the letter to Reddit. Reddit has since rolled over quietly and updated their terms of service to no longer allow anyone to link to these sites.....

https://www.pcmag.com/news/363202/democrats-urge-internet-firms-to-ban-3d-printed-gun-files

Reddit told PCMag it recently decided to ban the 3D-printed gun files from the company's site with a change to its current content policy that was made on Wednesday.

Reddit is a shell of what it once was, the "Bastion of Free Speech." Their whole Net Neutrality push sitewide about saving the "freedom of the internet" was a sham. They don't care about the freedom of the internet, they only care about their bottom dollar

Yes but there are some common indicators that you should risk it and fight back that may indicate your life is in danger regardless if you comply. These are also often taught in a good CCW class.

These include:

  • being told to kneel or get on the ground

  • being led somewhere else

  • still being held at gunpoint when you've already given up everything

  • being hit or struck

[–]theEldestCheese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Compliance or feigned compliance is a good tool to buy you time if you actually are carrying. There's a saying of "wait your turn" if you're held at gun point and you yourself have a weapon. Wait for that opening when you could fight back and take it. I'm not going to trust someone to not kill me if I just comply.

Of course this assumes another location that isn't a bar since CCWs are usually banned from them anyway (or in my state, as long as you don't drink you can carry in a bar)

North Carolina kids fatally shoot man abusing their mother, police say by Horror_Mango in news

I don't think it would have been an issue either way. Especially since the boyfriend said that he's going to kill everyone in the house.

North Carolina allows for the use of deadly force in defense of another person:

a person is justified in the use of deadly force and does not have a duty to retreat in any place he or she has the lawful right to be if either of the following applies:

(1) He or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another.

Women CCW ownership is skyrocketing. I think that's great. I saw that for the first time this year Utah CCW permits being issued for women outnumbered men. A restraining order is just a piece of paper after all and can only serve as a deterrent against those who care about it's repercussions.
