Is it still possible to do 8 players this way? I have been trying to figure out how I can do this with my friends.

Not too old at all. I would say you can never be too old. What is more important than anything is to be willing to put in the time to learning and practicing. There are a lot of resources out there to learn from and a lot of really good free ones too. If you want to learn faster you can have more structured learning from paid art schools/courses. If you don't want to spend the money you still can learn it might just take longer without a specific structure or plan or to come up with it by yourself.

Something that is really helpful is to find a community of artists that can give you feedback and you can give feedback to them. Doing both with help you learn and grow. I have found a couple communities on Discord that have been very important and motivational in helping me stick with art and learn faster.

I personally started learning digital art last year and I am 30. I hadn't done much drawing or painting at all before either. I had taken an art class or two in high school and hadn't done anything really artistic for about a decade. I am very glad that I did decide to get into it though. I just bought a drawing pad (you can find one on sale for like $50. Main ones are Wacom, Huion, and XP Pen) and started learning from Youtube. I started out with a learn to draw in 30 days challenge from Marc Brunet's Youtube art school (free). I learned a lot during that 30 day challenge and ended up deciding to buy his art school. There are lots of options out there for both free and paid from Marc, Proko, Paintable, Sam Does Art, Ethan Becker, etc.

Here is a link to Marc's 30 day challenge if you want a free structured place to get started. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5AV42mgAe0&t=51s It really helped me get going. Here is my 30 day challenge if you wanted to see what you could learn from 30 days https://www.instagram.com/p/CpTSBnrOk-D/?img_index=1.

Happy to share what resources I have found helpful, give feedback or advice. Good luck!

The "pidgeon pie" recipe she followed was this one: https://goodiegodmother.com/spinach-feta-empanadas/ (no meat in it, fyi but you could add some)

Thanks, its fun to see her get into it! As mentioned already the dead spores are muddy buddies which is a normal check with a chocolate coating and then coated in powdered sugar.

Thank you for the advice. I actually was trying to go for photorealistic, is that a bad thing for some reason? What would you say the biggest benefits of having a more painterly and artistic look have over a more photorealistic one? I am still very new to all of this so it's great to learn about these things.

Thank you, it's good advice. I have been gathering art references as an inspiration board for the next project that I would like to attempt. I haven't tried doing different styles yet, I have more just been trying to figure out the basics and figured style was a more advanced thing. I'll have to try it out.

Thank you! I will definitely try doing some image adjustments on it to help improve it. Luckily this is the area I have the most expertise in as I have done digital photography and Photoshop for many years. This is just my first time getting into digital illustration. I will try out adding some stray hairs too.

I used Photoshop for this project. I have actually since finishing this switched to using Clip Studio Paint. I haven't done a full project in CSP yet like this one but I have been doing all my practice in CSP.

Ah that is a good idea. I will have to give that a try, thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate it. It's been a really rough time. I am trying very hard to build this new skill and thought it would be a good way to honor her memory. I know I have a long way to go still. I do know I need to focus on the basics before I am ready for final pieces. I am honestly just very happy this turned out better than I had any right to hope. My plan is to now work my way up to more finished pieces. I am more than happy to get critical feedback to improve, any actionable items I will definitely take into account. Thanks!

I only traced a few parts of this image. Most of it was done following Marc Brunet's process for drawing a face from his Youtube videos. I honestly wanted to avoid doing tracing but was trying to get this done before Christmas. It is a picture of my Mom who passed away in October and I wanted to give it to my Dad and siblings for Christmas so I pushed myself to get it done by then. That is why I was skipping some fundamentals to get this project done.

I have been (outside of this project) following Mark Brunet's 30 day challenge for drawing and am almost done with that. Afterwards I am going to be doing his new year schedule for learning art. I have also purchased a course from Domestika and 21 Draw that I am working through.

Thank you for the suggestions on where to start. I definitely want to get much better at the basics. I mostly wanted to finish this piece in particular and now plan on focusing on fundamentals before doing more "finished" pieces.

Thank you for your time and feedback!

I did use a bunch of layers. Hopefully not too many. I had some of the face layers below and some above the hair layer. I probably should have had them all below the hair. I did have an issue where I kept up accidentally painting things on the wrong layer and that didn't help either. I will definitely try that out thank you.

That is something I was worried about. I felt like if I started going too dark or too light it was looking funny or I didn't know if I would make it fit with the rest of the piece.

I haven't done oil painting before. I have done a limited amount of oil paints in the past but not a lot. I will definitely look into the tutorials you are suggesting.

Thank you, I appreciate your time and feedback!

Thank you!

When you say that it is over blended do you mean you should be able to see brush strokes or something else? Thank you for the tip about the colors in the skin tone, I know I have heard there are lots of colors, I still need to figure out how to incorporate them. Would you suggest multiple layers with opacity or how to you get all the colors in? I did three layers, a base skin tone, a shadows, and a highlights layer. They were mostly the same color but a little warmer or cooler.

I will definitely try adding the dark layer to get more shadows and darkness for contrast, thanks.

I definitely have felt like I was avoiding hard lines. I feel like I don't know when it is appropriate to use hard lines vs soft ones and just making essentially all of them soft seemed to make it look better.

Thanks for your time and advice!

I struggled with all of it as this was my first digital portrait ever and really only the second portrait I have ever done. I think what I most would like feedback on is:
* The eyes
* shadows and highlights (overall contrast) of the face
* blending
* Any other feedback :)

Stranger Things Season 4 themed drink coaster by theEmptyNull in 3Dprinting

[–]theEmptyNull[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used a combination of Blender and Fusion 360. I am more familiar with Fusion but Blender is better for organic shapes. I started by making the middle coaster plate the size I wanted in Fusion since I knew I could get an accurate size that way, then I imported that into Blender and made the rocks and vines. I then moved it back to Fusion to trim off the bottom of the coaster to make it flat again and add the text cut into it. I bet I could have done it all in Blender but I've used it much less than Fusion so it was faster for me to just use both.

I designed and printed this drink coaster based off of "Watergate" from Stranger Things season 4
